This was a slow pleasant descent from Kuranda to Cairns. The views were good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We caught the train all the way into Cairns central for an easy walk back to hotel. Be aware seats are numbered so if you want a window seat (forward facing best) you will need to check this when you buy the ticket.

We caught the 8;30am train from Cairns train station, park in the shopping centre car park for free they’ll validate your parking ticket at train ticket office when you pay for the train... was a nice trip up lots of history to listen to.. get ready for pics.. train stops at Barron Falls for photo op.. be careful with children as windows are open the whole time for ventilation, there are bars on the windows though you can still stick your hand out, also there are toilets on the train... enjoy 😊

This trip was on my bucket list. I travelled Gold class and was not disappointed. Morning tea was delicious. The view was fantastic. At Kuranda i chose to do the rainforest walk with ample signage and still had enough time to browse the shops. Friendly staff and informative comentary

We had originally booked the standard train ride up & skyrail back but paid the extra $49 to upgrade to gold class. It was so worth it we got lovely food, tea, coffee, wine, bubbles & beer on the way up & much more comfortable seats. The trip up was breathtaking and the skyrail back even better. Only the diamond upgrade $20 has the glass bottom on the gondola’s it was well worth it, simply amazing.

If you’re in Cairns or the surrounding areas don’t disappoint yourself and miss this attraction. Any age will enjoy this journey up into the mountains and to the Kuranda township.
We booked through our accommodation so we were given a basic carriage. Try booking through the Kuranda Railway itself and book a Gold Carriage. Just spoil yourself...it’s not as if you do this everyday.
Take in the majestic panoramic views as the train winds its way up through the lush forest. Have your camera ready for the waterfalls as you get nearer to the top.
We rode up on the train and took the Skyrail back down...Sensational Day.
No complaints...10/10
