Lovely clean double room for a reasonable price. There were a couple of kitchen areas which was nice, all were clean enough. Bathroom's were clean enough too. Room was spacious and quiet. Pool area and hammocks are nice, staff were friendly. Location-wise its about 15 minutes walk into town, hard enough going in the heat of the day but more than manageable. We'd previously stayed at the TRavellers Oasis which is just around the corner but found the rooms cleaner and more comfortable here, plus you don't have to pay for air-con here but do at the Oasis. No problems recommending here, would stay again.

Room Tip: The doubles were lovely.

The staff were very friendly helpful both before and after our arrival in helping arrange trips, next steps of our travels, etc. Is a very friendly hostel, no tv room (seemingly a rarity in Oz) meant people actually talk with and get to know each other. We stayed in two different rooms - both were clean and otherwise fairly standard hostel rooms although we were glad for both the fan and air con (the latter you had to pay $1 dollar for every 3 hours of use but it was well worth it). We liked the location (15 minute walk to the esplanade) but it may not be for everyone - this wasn't a 'party' hostel but you are able to go out when you want and sleep in peace and quiet the other nights.

The staff were very helpful and friendly however the hostel was not best location as it took 20 mins walk to esplanade. I found cockroaches in the room and the bathroom, a lots of mosquitos, my friend got allergic reaction all over the body. The room price were cheap but I will not go back there again.

I really enjoyed my stay here as a solo female traveler. Pros- the hostel itself is adorable. Cute rooms, great kitchen, cute little pool, a relazing hammock- it's just a vision to look at. Chris who helps with tours, etc really knows his stuff and was very helpful in booking me a Great Barrier Reef and Rainforest tour. The people I met there were awesome. A lot of cool, international travelers. The culture there was that of a little family and they have fun themed events every night. You can get a reasonably priced private room. The location was walkable to the mall and into the city (though at night may be too far of a walk). No bed bugs and pretty bug free considering the location. Cons- Only one- it is a clean hostel but my towel didn't smell the freshest but other than that- amazing place to stay!! Really loved it!

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet private room and they really accommodated- I slept like a baby!

Happy to recommend Dreamtime. I was traveling alone and appreciate their helpfulness with scheduling activites and recommending local places to eat etc. I arrived very late (due to a delayed flight) and was very gratful to see the late night entrance code and lockbox code for my room key was as said it would be. The local birds can be quiet noisy though, I was happy to have brought earplugs since my room was open air. I went out to the reef and appreciate the ride out to the dock in the morning. The walk home was maybe 10 minutes and pleasant. A nice size grocery store and mall across the street for any needs.
