“Different view of the area”

Tablelands, Waterfalls, and Spanish Castle

If you're wanting to get a different view of the region than the coast and rainforest then a trip up the Kuranda Range, across the tablelands and back to Cairns via the Palmerstone Highway is a great way to spend a day. You will then take in the coffee and fruit wines of the Mareeba area, the volcanic lakes of Eacham and Barrine near Yungaburra, the cheeses of Malanda and Mungali and the many waterfalls, including the circuit, at the top of the Palmerstone.

Have just visited this amazing park. From the front entrance you are greeted by friendly staff who are there to make sure every part of your visit is perfect. The guided tour with Les was informative and we will definitely be back again soon to take in the night tour and hydro tour. Highly recommend.

Drove through on a day with many waterfall visits. This is a bit out of the way, but has chalets and great learning tours and courses. Duck billed platypus walks and much much more. Worth planning your visit though.

Nestled on the edge of Millaa Millaa is the waterfall trail, of 3 beautiful falls, 2 accessible to swimming. Refreshing fresh water. Picnic grounds at the first, Millaa Millaa falls with amenities and plenty of parking. If you are doing the Atherton Tablelands, a must do so pack your swimmers/ togs/ cozie/ bathers.

i wont repeat the plethora of info out there about these beautiful waterfalls but will emphasize accessibility as I found it difficult to find relevant info when researching our trip:
Malanda very nice , access close to car park. Recommend a stop at the exquisite curtain fig tree first.
Millaa Millaa beautiful, access close to park, lovely area to sit in front of waterfall and gorgeous swimming area at bottom of waterfall
Zillie lovely noisy strong waterfall , but note that although it's a fairly short walk to the view point, you can't really see the bottom of the the very dramatic falls and when we were there, there was no safe way to get to the bottom
Elinjaa beautiful split falls, but a very steep descent and ascent to get to the bottom
Josephine falls - nice enough, but note it's 750m walk each way ( slightly uphill on the way there ) , lovely area to swim, Also note - lots of mosquitoes
Babinda boulders, very easily accessible swimming area in beautiful surroundings.
All in all a most exquisite day
