All educators know that the most lasting learning springs from experience. Awe is the best means to make the learning memorable. As someone raised in 1950s Australia's era of silence on Aboriginal cultural richness, the best way for me to have my own grandchildren respect Aboriginal people and culture was to immerse them in the kind of tour which Jarramali Rock Art offers: and they LOVED it! Aged 9 and 12, my grandsons thrived in the magnificent country of the Quinkans, scrambling up the rugged escarpments to marvel at the 3-coloured ochre figures. Johnny's knowledge of the figures and how to protect the country which created them over 19,000 years ago impressed on the minds of all in the group. They stood in awe of those shelters and their many art figures. My grandchildren loved the thrill of the treks, the beauty of the Land, the joy of water holes and the campfire under the Milky Way. So did my son and I! Thank you Johnny and Tony for generously sharing your family's stories.
Highly recommended by our 3 generations.

Highly recommend! An exhilarating 4x4 transfer from Laura. Spectacular views over the escarpment while sharing stories during morning tea and lunch. An extensive visually stunning indigenous rock art gallery. Insightful interpretation of the art. Local history. A joyous event where we felt very welcome. We even experienced an awesome impromptu violin performance!
Thank you Johnny and family for the opportunity and for your hospitality.

So honoured to have experienced this trip. Johnnys sensitivity , passion and knowledge of his traditional land and amazing ancient rock art was educational and thought provoking.
Spectacular views and abundant birdlife.
The remote bush camp was very well equipped and the cabins extremely comfortable and I have never seen stars as plentiful or bright.
A must do experience when visiting Cape York.

With Johnny’s guidance and knowledge we visited Jarramali to view two ancient rock art sites. Descriptions and photographs cannot begin to explain the experience, there was a sense of privilege in seeing these drawings that have existed for thousands of years and are still a part of this timeless land. Nothing about this tour felt rehearsed; it unfolded and was shared with warmth and generosity. Our only regret was that we hadn't chosen to stay another day and had to drive back to Cairns to return our camper.
