A new park to Cairns it will be icon in time to come. It is modern and doubles as a amphitheatre when required. Such a beautiful addition to a modern vibrant city. It is free it is worth the stroll from town. Across the very busy Highway however easy to cross is a fabulous coffee shop named MiPace

Cairns is a small city, but of course it has really nice parks, this is one of them. It was fenced to keep runners, and other people in the park more private. There were always young kids voice to make it music to ears to bring life to the park. It is also nice for elderly and people with some physical problems, they can sit and relax after small walks.

From a fairly bland park to an amazing park with a covered walkway (vines) a new sound shell, many more trees. I couldn't believe the transformation.

My wife stumbled across this place whilst taking a walk and took me back to see it. I was impressed with the treehouse for the children and the Aboriginal stories of the area told on pylons a little way from the park along the boardwalk, towards the ferry terminal.

We had the pleasure of seeing the ' Marriage of Figaro' held outdoors in Martin Parklands in the heart of Cairns city. What a fabulous experience! Set on a gentle slope, there was room for chairs, rugs etc without feeling crowded. Beautiful trees framed the stage, there was plenty of room to move around freely, easy access into and out of the venue and very well set up with info, food and drink stands. Parking was easy because it was Saturday night and surrounding streets had plenty of space. The setting is beautiful with lots of trees and a huge expanse of lawn. The opera ( superb singing and orchestra) was further enhanced by the venue and was not compromised by being held outside a theatre. The acoustics were great. The only reason I didn't give a '5 star' rating , was that toilets were inadequate in interval- far too few for large venues. If there were portaloos there, they were not obviously sign posted. The only criticism of the event that could be mitigated with hiring toilets for large events. Other than that, it's a big success story.
