My husband and I dined at the Walnut couple of nights ago. The atmosphere was very welcoming and accommodating. Rudy, the host of the evening, not only served our table but made our experience unforgettable with funny jokes and history of wines. Thank you Rudy! The food was delicious. Delicious is not even the word enough to describe how beautiful, delectable and mouth-watering it was. We had a table d'hôte degustation (5 course with matching wines) and I doubt you find a similar deal elsewhere in the city. I wish I knew earlier that such a gem restaurant is in so close proximity to where I live and work. Speaking of a table d'hôte degustation, if you are offered to try something like that, make sure you don’t miss on your chance as this option is not usually on the menu. Frederick, the Head Chef, came from the kitchen to greet and meet us once we were seated and asked about our preferences and dislikes food-wise. That’s it, the rest was in his hands… We had no idea what was going to be served, an absolute surprise for everyone, - for us, for staff and even for the host. We were served 5 beautiful signature dishes and we absolutely loved every single dish. I strongly recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends.
I’ve seen a few comments from other people complaining that the prices are too high. My opinion: there is nothing to complain about. This is a fine dining restaurant with a very well-done service and it’s worth every cent they charge. Expect to pay on average around 100-150 (with wines) per person due to the produce they use (high quality and fine foods only), so if you have just $20 to spend on your dinner, better to opt for a fast food restaurant and forget about fine dining experience as you won’t find any main on the menu for that price and it’s absolutely normal.
Another tip: trust the host to match the wines to compliment your dinner. They know what they are doing. Some of the wines opened up for me from a different angle once they were perfectly matched with food.
