I have to admit I ate at this restaurant primarily because of the Citibank free bottle of wine offer that comes with the dinner. However the food was disappointing and even the free wine wasn't up to much. I had the Chilled chicken ballottine for starters and I think I could probably have done better buying something at the Coles chilled meat counter. I continued with the Seared "sashimi-grade" tuna steak. This was nothing like any sashimi I had ever tasted, it was tough and raw in the middle making it mostly inedible. I also had a "lamb's lettuce salad with pistachio dressing". I'm not sure where the pistachio went but it seemed to be drenched in some cheesy sauce that drowned any fresh taste from the salad itself. All in all I wasn't a fan and I won't be back.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Our collaboration with Citibank restricts the selection of wines available.

To a well-seasoned traveller, it was disappointing to read that our food did not meet with your high expectations. As we strive to construct our menus to suit most tastes and budgets, we understand that one size does not fit all.

We hope that our future menus may entice you to return to the Walnut Restaurant.

The Walnut Restaurant is attached to the hotel I was staying at, and they provided delicious food, in a timely manner, at a reasonable price.

Dear Guest,

We are glad you enjoyed your recent stay at the Royal on the Park Hotel and your dining experience in our Walnut Restaurant met with your expectations.

We have just launched our new monthly promotion of Tian of Fraser Island Crab with Avocado, Tomato and Prawn Bisque Coulis as an entrée and Crispy Skin Tasmanian Salmon with Sweet Potato Mash, Pomme Anna, Salmon Caviar and Saffron Sauce for the main course. These are available as a 2-course Set Menu that includes a glass of house beverage, or individually.

We hope your next visit to Brisbane is very soon so you can sample this delectable seafood offering from Executive Chef Frederick Marechal.

I normally steer clear of the hotel restaurant, but I had heard great things about The Walnut.
Great atmosphere, nice view (albeit of the botanic gardens after sunset) and great service. The Apple Tart for an entree was a treat and for the first time in my dining history, I had no room for dessert. I don't blame you for not believing me.
After dinner, head around to Nant Whiskey Bar for an after dinner treat x

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind words about your pleasant dining experience.

Sous Chef, Joshua Williams would like to invite you and your partner back for a never-done-before Table d'Hote dessert degustation (and suggests perhaps a late lunch is required for this event!) on your next visit to Brisbane. Joshua is currently trialling his new dessert recipes for our next menu and hopes to tempt your tastebuds at the Walnut Restaurant soon!

Step back into the 70's when you walk into the wood panelled Walnut restaurant, replete with chandeliers! This restaurant offers an old world, high-class dining experience in every respect from the decor to the service style and beautiful table settings. The menu was just the right size with a beautiful mix of options with a French slant. The food was superb and the service was excellent. A great wine list, but surprisingly without any French wines. Old style service include roast beef carved at your table and likewise crepés flambéed as you watched. The Mâitre-D' Rudy was particularly excellent, spreading his time nicely between all the tables, and it was nice to also have a visit from the Head Chef when things had slowed down a little as the restaurant was quite full. Our night out was celebrating a special occasion, and the fine dining experience we had was special in every respect with no criticisms at all.

Dear Guest,

Our Egyptian crystal chandeliers have enchanted many a guest with their deep twinkle and romantic sparkle and unfortunately, have had to politely decline quite a few guests who would like to take them home.

With such fantastic local produce, our newly-designed wine list features heavily local wineries with such rich and different characteristics. Gueridon carving service and Crepes Suzette flambéed at your table continue as Signature Dishes on our upcoming Autumn-Winter menu. Executive Chef, Frederick Marechal, is fond of conversing with our guests to seek comments, ensuring his food is up to expectations and sometimes gets inspiration from what our clientele would like to see on the menu.

We hope you will take advantage of our complimentary Royal Rewards Card programme that is available to join on our website and look forward to welcoming you back to the Royal on the Park Hotel very soon!

One of the nicest restaurants I have eaten in for a very long time. The chef clearly samples their own cooking, with enormous care being taken to include the best ingredients and with overall presentation. My only slight reservation is the fact that non-red meat options are a bit limited at present.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to pen your thoughts on the Walnut Restaurant. Our Kitchen brigade is delighted that the passion and drive for excellence has been noted.

Our current seasonal menu does favour red meat due to the abundance and fantastic quality available. Executive Chef, Frederick Marechal, and his whole team are more than happy to cater to any dietary requirement. With a little notice, a special meal can be created just for you, which often results in a on-the-spur-of-the-moment Table d'Hote Degustation that can range from 5- to 12-courses.

We look forward to extending a very warm welcome to you on your next visit to Brisbane.
