My husband and myself were quite excited to try the Blackbird Bar and Grill, having booked quite a few months ago, upon arrival were seated in a great position with a lovely view of the story bridge and Brisbane river, the wait staff were friendly and helpful ( but not very knowledgeable) with the menu or wine list,
We had cured kingfish for entree it looked beautiful and tasted delishes, the mains were disappointing with my steak being charred to the point of it tasting quite bitter and didn't do the meat justice , my husband ordered pepper sauce with his steak and was served a red wine jus, after questioning this was told that pepper was infused into the red wine jus and it was definately pepper sauce, , this could have been rectified with better training of the wait staff ( e.g. been told blackbird didn't have a pepper sauce ) and hubby would have ordered a different sauce and been happy , also sides of beans etc were approx $12.50 each, the restaurant had very little ambience and a bill of $250, I would have rather gone a little bit further down the river to Alchemy
