“Hip place just outside of town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

Spent 2 nights here, and found it very comfortable. The room was smaller than I would have liked, and walk to town was a bit further than expected (about 20 min or so.) The bar has a cool atmosphere, very design oriented. Seems to hold a lot of business people. Liked the fact it was in a plaza which offered some shops and convenience stores. The Italian restaurant next door was delicious, and held a fabulous wine list! I used the small workout room (literally a few cardio machines and a handful of weights) and sauna. There is a rooftop pool, and if you need more fitness they offer a reduced cost voucher at a local gym.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms next to elevator shafts

The staff were friendly, warm and inviting. The room was beautifully set up. Enough towels and all the tiny touches. Petals on the bed, lindt chocolates ........yum champagne. We stayed in five different hotels before this and this place had the best mini bar and the breakfast was amazing.
The mexican restaurant across is delicious and had a good vibe.

Room Tip: romantic package is fantastic

Have just stayed for 3 nights for work. Staff were very friendly, room and amenities good and great restaurants across the road. My biggest disappointment for a hotel of this class was that they do not have enough right size sheets for the beds and you could feel at the end of the bed the matress protector where the sheet stopped. There was also a 100 holding fee against my credit card which I was not informed about at check in and it did not show the hotel name on my credit card on line statement so I was unsure who it was from. This charge disappeared after I checked out. Overall I would recommend the hotel.

EmporiumManagement, Rooms Division Manager at Emporium Hotel, responded to this review, 27 February 2012
Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience at the Emporium Hotel. With your assistance we are able to continue improving to ensure the Emporium’s service promise is delivered to each and every guest.

In regards to your comments regarding the incorrect size sheet placed on your bed, I must sincerely apologise and agree that this is not the required standard and it is clear further training is required.

In relation to the holding of $100 on your credit card, this process is called a pre-authorisation of funds which is taken on your arrival. The Emporium Hotel requires a $100 pre-authorisation to cover incidentals, which should be communicated to each guest on arrival with the credit amount refunded on departure. Once again, I apologise you were not informed and will consider further training that maybe required to ensure each guest is aware of this process.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and our staff would look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

very cool and glad we stayed, made up for all the cheap places, we totally lazed the whole time, liked the pool very much, and wished we could have stayed another night
