“What a Great Home Away from Home!”

We stayed for a week in this quiet, well appointed apartment in leafy Windsor. Booking was efficient and information from the owners, John and Penny, was detailed and accurate. Price was very reasonable. The apartment is under their old Queenslander home and has off street parking and a separate front access to the side of the garage at the front. Everything that you require for a short stay is included - kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster, crockery, cutlery and other utensils, large dining/living room with TV and shelves of books and magazines, comfortable bed with good quality linens and ample storage. The bathroom is small, with shower, but has all the basics - there are plans to enlarge this room apparently. The living room opens on to a private patio at the rear. A BBQ and outdoor setting make this a great spot for dining outside or just relaxing and taking in the garden, where you are welcome to roam or take a wander through the back gate into the adjoining parkland. Free WiFi was available and efficient. There are overhead fans, heating but no air conditioning - which might be a problem for some in Summer. It was cool when we visited.
The apartment is about 600m from the Wilston Village shops and restaurants and Kedron Brook Road where you can catch the bus. It is just a bit further to the Windsor train station. Being Windsor, there are some gentle slopes but still quite manageable to get around if you don't have a car. We did have a car but still chose to take public transport to go into the city.
This place was ideal for us to come and go for our week in Brisbane. There is a sofa bed in the lounge for additional guests if required. I can definitely recommend PJ's on Fifth and we certainly plan to stay again when next in Brisbane.

“Quality, characterful property with very friendly & helpful owners”
Reviewed 1 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Stayed here with my partner for 4 days midweek in early July. The accommodation was spotlessly clean & exactly as described/illustrated. Nice touches such as toiletries & (delicious) biscuits & ground coffee make you feel welcome.
Unfortunately the owners were away when we stayed (as I was looking forward to meeting them), but they made sure that everything was ready for us & the keys were accessible.
Best bits (for me): comfort, space & feeling that you were in a proper home; access to garden; Wi-Fi; books & tourist information left out; off-road parking (my partner!). No downsides however not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties who doesn't have transport as the property is at the top of a steep hill & shops/station & restaurants are at the bottom! It's not far in distance but it's a good cardiac workout!!
All in all a perfect base for anyone wanting a change from the usual (impersonal) motels or very expensive city centre hotels. Excellent value for money. Looking forward to my next trip to Brisbane to stay again (& meet John & Penny!)

“A Peaceful Haven”

PJ's was a lovely haven to escape to during part of my stay in Brisbane. The hosts, Penny and John are a delightful couple and made me feel welcome and at home from day one. The area is quite with restaurants and a great supermarket/deli are a short walk away. The bed was really comfortable and the apartment is a good size for a bit of an extended stay.

If you like a more homely environment then this type of accommodation is so much better that staying in a hotel.

Penny and John, thank you for your hospitality!

Kevin
