Certainly can't fault the service, it was excellent at all times. The room was clean and the bathroom large, the separate shower and large bathtub were great (I hate the shower-over-bathtub setup).

The location is spot on. The hotel is very quiet and seemed all but empty when we were there, EXCEPT for the group of young girls who arrived back to their room late at night and decided to continue the party. Unfortunately the walls are thin, at least on the fourth floor, and it felt like the party was in our room.

Toiletries are of a high standard and the bed was extremely comfortable. The tv was very big, possibly 42 inch, however it was SD, it's worth investing in HD televisions these days as the picture wasn't clear.

We would be happy to stay again.

Having to travel to Brisbane for business (always best to travel when someone else is paying) we were booked in to the Treasury Hotel which is part of the Treasury Casino. This building is not actually part of the casino building however is owned by the Casino and even has an underground passageway to the casino so that if it's raining.... or you don't want to be seen you're covered....... pardon the pun.

Upon arrival we were quickly and efficiently checked in and shown to our rooms. My room was interesting in a few ways. First that the room was really long and skiiny and had two large double beds, kinda strange for a single person but what the hey. Second was that the awesome looking balcony doors were enclosed by glass window panes? Maybe they've had problems with patrons losing a lot of money......although I was only on the first floor. Sadly I didn't get to sit on the balcony overlooking the river (and motorway??) but that was fine, the football sized bathroom more than made up for it, at one stage I had to call room service as I had become lost in there whilst brushing my teeth. Oh and irrespective of what they say it had nothing to do with the Sake we had been drinking at the local Japanese restaurant.

The staff were always attentive and happy to assist even at 03:30am (we had to get up every morning for work at this time) which to me was fantastic as we were not at all happy or doing well at this time so having somebody order a cab and smile at us was a bonus.

The restaurant in the Hotel was adequate although I wouldn't recommend it highly so the only other good thing I need to note is the building itself. I am a great lover of Edwardian/Victorian era architecture and the hotel (yes I know if was never designed to be a hotel) had me wishing I was born 100yrs ago and part of the British Empire at it's height........

All in all, while the hotel was never meant to be a hotel and is maybe looking a little tired, the grandiose nature of the building, it's location in the middle of town, it's fantastic and smiling staff made me think that even if work wasn't paying for it I may just head back some time.

Our room had historic high ceilings, and doors out onto the balcony ... except the doors to the balcony are locked, and behind them is a pane of glass to make the room quieter and prevent access. So upon entering the room you are very excited, which quickly becomes disappointment.

Apparently there are some rooms where you can access the balcony ... I would go for one of these.

We requested a river view but didnt get one.

Breakfast is continental buffet, with a menu of hot dishes to be cooked fresh. The fresh hot breakfast is very nice, but the buffet is very limited and a little disappointing.

Location is great for access to casino, CBD, and Southbank.

If want a view, staying at Stamford Plaza might be more suitable.

The room was great, the very high ceiling gave a nice sense of space and it was lit sympathetically. The bathroom was great, I really prefer a separate shower and bath and the elegant marble gave it all a premium feel.

Bed was comfy and the turn down service was a pleasant surprise.

I was a little disappointed by the common areas of the hotel though, it had a very tired feel about it and little things like the lights on the lift telling you which floor it was currently on not fully working stood out. A very small low key reception isn't the grand welcome the building leads you to think you may receive and the lack of an off street drop off and pick up area seems odd, you can easily miss the main entrance which is just a small door on the street.

Room Tip: Try for a room with a view. Avoid the Northern or Eastern wings

We stayed in the Hotel, not the Casino building. There are 2 big advantages for this historical site. First of all, it's location. Just along the river and across from the old Expo site. It's less than 2 blocks to the main city shopping mall and within walking distance to many other attractions. The Tourist Information Centre is right on the mall - as well as a choice of restaurants and foodcourts for quick and inexpensive meals. Of course, there's boutiques everywhere aside from department stores. Second, is transport. A bus - Free "City Loop"
stops just a few steps away and takes you to different areas of Brisbane City. This also stops at the Central Railway station which runs a regular train service to both the domestic and international airports. Dining is another matter. The Lab Restaurant and Bar is rather pricey and you really would be better off eating elsewhere. But, it is a lovely restaurant for breakfast especially on a sunny Brisbane morning. The room we had was spacious and well-appointed. However, hopping over the bath was a real problem for me. So, you may want to clarify what sort of bathroom you have - at the time of booking. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking the park or the river - worth the view !
