“Great one nighter in Brisbane”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

Decided to have an overnight stay before heading to Noosa after our domestic flight. From the moment you set your eyes on the beautiful historic building the whole experience begins. From the concierge, reception staff, bell boy check in was a breeze. We booked through webjet and received a great room rate. The hotel room was just lovely, the tallest ceilings I have ever seen in a room, luxurious drapes and the bed covered with cushions. Ryan's bar in the building is the perfect place to start the early evening with a few drinks. The casino is walking distance across the garden. As it was midweek the casino still seemed quite busy at the bars and tables. I suppose as the old building dictated the layout but somewhat confusing little corners and levels. From the hotel easy walk to Southbank and CBD to access all restaurants and shops. So what was supposed to be a relaxing one night, turned into great walk around the river to Southbank, plenty of drinks at Ryan's, a great Asian fusion meal at Peonies, and a whole night of gambling at the casino, falling into the cushioned comfort in the wee small hours. So much for a rest?!However lady luck prevailed and we had plenty of money extra to spend in Noosa. Book it you won't regret it.

Beautiful twin deluxe room, all furnished in keeping with the buildings exterior. The Treasury Hotel and Casino is a luxury getaway. This hotel has a great restaurant which we had breakfast, and the restaurant staff were attentive, professional and friendly. We recieved the same qualitly service at the bar as well. Reception staff are professional and very helpful. The hotel is close to both sides of the river (Queen St Mall across to the precincts of South Bank). the room was large in size and the beds and sheeting high quality. We did not have any view from our windows but some rooms in the hotel would have a nice view of the city or river. A very popular wedding fuction room is available and during our stay there was a wedding, we did not hear any noise from the hallways or our room. We had lovely bathrobes to borrow and the marble bathrooms were great! We received a turn down service and a complimentary morning newspaper delivered to our door. Great for a short stay or business. There is a mini bar in the room.

Beautiful heritage building. Rooms were enormous with extremely high ceilings, albeit a bit dark. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The bathrooms were the best part...marble everything with large bathtubs perfect for a soak. The hotel is very centrally located, across from the Treasury Casino, at the end of the Queen Street shopping strip. The building is old but well preserved and the entire hotel has an old world feel to it. Rooms are very quiet, and although the hotel can be quite full, you'd never know -- it feels quiet.

Had breakfast at the Lab bar two mornings in a row -- eggs benedict were amazing, the second morning's pancakes were good but nothing extraordinary. There's also a nice bar (Ryan's bar) that's nice for a quiet drink.

Overall, a great property, highly recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights in February, on a Thursday and Friday night. It was unbelievable!! We have stayed at many different hotels around the world and this hotel was probably the best we have ever been in. Our room was beautiful. It had a really high ceiling, was very spacious, beautiful decor and spotless. We were travelling with our 2 yr old son. As we requested a king bed (the most comfortable one ever), the staff brought both a cot and a roll-away bed for us to choose from for our little boy. After deciding on the cot they even offered to make it up for us. On request they happily emptied the mini bar and fridge so our son couldn't get into mischief. Absolutely NOTHING was a hassle for the staff. We roamed around the different floors just admiring the old world charm and the gorgeous old fashioned lift (this one is not in use these days). The location couldn't be beat. Right in the heart of it. The Casino across the road (if thats your thing), heaps of shops and restaurants and more importantly for us, a 10 min walk to Southbank. Southbank has a man made water play area for kids. Even though it was raining on and off our son loved its little beach, pools and water jets. It was hard to get him out of it. My In-laws visited us from the Gold Coast (we are from NSW) and they absolutely loved the Hotel. Even though the windows are double glazed, we did hear music at night from the pubs and restaurants across the road, but it didn't really bother us (and didn't wake our son up). We never heard noise from any other room. Although the room was beautiful and exceeded our expectations and the location was excellent, it was the staff that we were most impressed with. I kept asking my husband where the Red Carpet was. Seriously, we never passed a single staff member who didn't look genuinely happy to be there. They were always smiling and happy to greet us and couldn't do enough for us. Their service was exceptional. I could go on and on about this hotel. The hotel and Casino have a few restaurants to choose from but you have to be over 18 to eat there. The staff recommended Cafe 21. This is located in the Casino across the street. We ate all our main meals there as they were absolutely delicious. We didn't want to go elsewhere. Our only regret.....we weren't able to stay longer. We would never hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and will definately stay here any time we travel to Brisbane in the future. Thank you to all the Staff at The Treasury & Casino. You certainly made our little get away a very memorable one :)

Room Tip: Maybe request a room that is not opposite the Casino as the music is a little disturbing at night. I...

We stayed at the Treasury Casino for two nights, Saturday and Sunday night. The room we stayed in was gorgeous. Very high ceilings, old world heritage fittings, private entry way made for a very richly decorated room. The room had a great wardrobe, chest of drawers for easy storage, large flat screen tv and adjustable air conditioning that was quiet. The room was definitely on the large side. We did not feel cramped at all. The bed was absolutely one of the best hotel beds I have ever slept in.

The bathroom was also nice - marble and wood. The only negative was the high claw foot style baths were a little difficult to get in and out of. I'm not sure if each room has these or not but should be a consideration for someone unable to navigate this height if injured, elderly etc.

The in-room safe was great - you used a swipe card set up by the casino - not something I have seen before, but easy to navigate.

Servicing of the room was sporadic, attended to perfectly on Saturday including turn down service, but on Sunday turn down was not completed. While this was not a big issue, it did put a blemish on standards that were pretty high.

On Sunday we ate at the Lab Restaurant and had a drink at the bar across from check-in before hand. Both venues (while food quality and service was to a high standard) lacked atmosphere and were fairly quiet. (I guess it was a Sunday night in February in Brisbane so perhaps this should have been expected).

Room service was exceptional. I did not feel like the bigger meals on the breakfast menu and they happily obliged in altering what was on the room service menu to suit my needs and this was done with minimum fuss. It arrived quickly and was hot.

I found the staff to be friendly and willing to assist. It was a lovely venue and very convenient to the Brisbane Mall, including Myer Centre and Queens Plaza, Southbank and of course the casino is over the road.
The only downside: We did get some nightclub noise from across the road on Saturday evening, although this seemed to quiet down after midnight. I think our room was on the noisy side and you could ask for one on the other side of the building and it would be fine.

Room Tip: Rooms on William St side may be quieter than those facing the park
