Description: What was once a rowdy sailor's drinking den has been transformed into a civilised Gastro Pub complete with a separate and impressive function and convention facility catering for up to 200 guests. This iconic South Bank Hotel, constructed in 1864, has developed a reputation as a lamblover's paradise and boasts a classic pub style menu sitting beside our more accomplished dishes. Had dinner on a very quiet night. Food was good with good wine selection. Good service and value. Restaurant and facilities were very clean.

The Ship is a good place for lunch - and the all day dining option means you don't have to worry about getting there by a particular time. The menu offers plenty of choice (including quite a few gluten free options) at a range of prices. We had the lamb cutlets (but with mashed rather than roast potatoes - as requested) and the Chinese style duck on a bed of steamed green vegies (pak choy, snow peas and more) with a really tasty mandarin sauce. Both were good. The waiter was friendly and efficient and it as relaxing to sit outside, watching the world walk, jog and ride by. I'd certainly recommend the Ship - and we will be going back too.

We had a great lunch here. I had snapper with Mediteranean vegetables and my partner had Reef and Beef which was one of the specials of the day. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

My Husband and I were at the Ship Inn last Saturday, Started with d drink in the garden bar and then moved in for Dinner. We shared the tapa's plate for an entree which was very nice, the olives were very yummy. Could suggest a little more bread. We both ordered the Snapper which the waiter told us had been changed to Trevally. Out it came but just the one Main the waiter mistook our share entree and thought we were sharing a main as well. He apologised and went off and sorted it all out. Back came 2 very tasty, beautiful meals. When my husband went to pay the bill we were given a discount for the mix up.

Love the sustainability Stance that this establishment takes, more should follow, eat locally sustainable caught or farmed product. I am sure it makes it taste better. Even the Wine comes with Carbon neutral accolades....... See you again soon.
