“Do not stay here - Danger of having an uncomfortable time!!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

This place was attrocious - stained carpet, dirty floors and walls, rude reception staff, old food smells in hallways and this was within 10 minutes of arriving. The lounge was a wooden block which only seemed comfortable when compared to the bed, which one could break their back on just rolling over.
Other highlights include;
Being trapped in the lift due to the sudden non working of the key (needing recoding suddenly), when approched staff about it they accused us of not belonging in that room, yet they had only checked us into that room 20 mins before!
While cooking toast it kept tripping the fuse, sending the apartment into blackout.
Parking was charged at $30/night but i found in the manual in the room it stated parking was $22/night, we did get it at the lower rate.
The biggest issue by far is the shocking shower set up and every room has the same shower. You need to be an olympic gymnast to get in & out of it.
Good points, central location.
I have never reviewed a place before, I gave feedback to the staff via a comments form, but heard them ripping it up as i walked away. i felt they couldn't remove an online comment. Do not stay here!!!!!!!

Room Tip: ask fora balcony room if you have to stay here

What's the most important thing when you're travelling? A good shower. Disappointingly, especially given the price you pay to stay here, our shower was a shocker. One minute it's freezing, the next you're being scalded.
Overall we enjoyed our stay - it's location is great and then furnishings modern. Our oven was a mess tho - dark liquidy substance lurking on a tray. Also frustrating was that their plates are too big for the dishwasher!
It's pretty pricey considering those factors.

I stayed here overnight on a recent business trip to Brisbane.
I was put up in a corner room with two balconies. Very nice.
This place is set up as a serviced apartment type complex rather than a hotel. The in-room facilities were all very good. Everything worked and the apartment looked like it had only recently been fitted out.
The M on Mary is also very conveniently located within walking distance of all CBD attractions.
I wasnt expecting much after check-in at the cramped reception (the place is quite hard to find from the street) but after ascending to the 19th floor in the lift, I was pleasantly surprised at the space within the unit. I am guessing this place has possibly been converted from residential apartments to accommodation? In summary, the unit was comfortable enough and more spacious (multiple rooms) than your average hotel room.

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room. Bigger and with two balconies.

I last stayed at M on Mary in 2010 & at that time had been quite satisfied with everything & loved my apartment on level 30. Had recently read some quite negative reviews on this site, so didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised on my recent stay that everything was pretty much as I had remembered & that the staff were very attentive & helpful. The apartment I had originally chosen 3007 was not to my liking as it overlooked a building site. Returning to Reception, Claire was most helpful & found me an alternative Apartment facing the River on level 10. Though the view was not as spectacular as on level 30, I was more than satisfied with the apartment. On the few times I rang reception with a problem, I was given courteous assistance without delay. Many thanks to Claire and Anthony for making my stay trouble free & enjoyable.
Just to set the record straight, I would admit that there seem to be some minor glitches. For example I seemed to have no hot water (tepid at best) on my last two days. However as it was 18-28C I did not find having a tepid shower to be a problem. Housekeeping was always good & came in about 2:00pm every day to tidy up & place fresh towels. If one was really nit picking, yes there are some faint odors in the lift area on my floor, but nothing awful. For those who whinged in the past, perhaps they thought they were staying in a 5 star property. M on Mary is not a 5 star property, but offers great value, comfort & excellent service!
I love the welcoming feel of the cool air & the water feature when entering the foyer/lobby & will definitely be coming back again!

Room Tip: Facing the river & gardens is best. Any 03 apartment from level 10 upwards I would recommend. At...
