“Third visit not as good as previously”
Reviewed 11 March 2012

It is about a year since we stayed at M on Mary in Brisbane. We had a 3 bedroom appartment which was on the 33rd floor. The view was spectacular as usual when you are lucky enough to get one of the higher floors.
Position to the Queen St Mall is also excellent, but we were disappointed in the furniture in the appartment. It was all very old, the couch was broken and the beds uncomfortable. There was not enough cutlery for all of us and very few cooking utensils. We asked for and got extra pillows and blankets because their wasnt enough in the room.
On the positive side the pillows we got appeared to be brand new. Another complaint would be that we could only get 3 key cards and we had 6 people in the appartment all going in different directions.
The staff was quite pleasant and the room ready in time which was excellent.

Room Tip: High rooms have the best views!

I stayed for 3 nights for business.
The carpet is well worn, stained and had some random debris not caused by myself.
The couch was as comfortable as a a wooden bench encased in vinyl.
The tv reception was fuzzy and dodgy.
The biggest issue by far was the safety issues the bathroom presented.
The flooring is not non slip. Although a non slip mat was provided, the same gloss tiles were in the kitchen and when wet were slippery. Note to the M.....water splashes despite a non slip mat.
While the bath was lovely and deep, getting into and out of it to take a shower was a dangerous challenge. At 160cms tall, getting ones leg over a height of approx 60-70 cms without a rail to hold onto was scary. Based on that alone, this is an unsuitable place for anyone with joint or mobility problems especially those who may have had hip surgery to consider staying here as you cannot safely shower if at all.
On a more positive note. The location is near transport, Queens Street Mall, shopping and there is a Brilliant Belgian beer house down the road. A highlight! There is a fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, equipped kitchen, washer and dryer. Laundry detergent is provided.
All I needed was a place to sleep, shower safely and watch a little tv in comfort.
One out of three was achieved.
Having stayed at the Oaks on Charlotte before, I know which one I'd choose again.....it was just booked out this time.

This is a beautiful hotel with very lovely staff. It is very centrally located in the Brisbane CBD. Price was very reasonable and it was a beautiful stay.

This is probably one of the worst hotel/apartments I have in my 25 years of business travel that i have ever stayed in! After following advisor I thought it would be okay so I have no idea of how it got its current rating! It's dirty, smelly, has no ambience at all. It is tired, run down, expensive for absolutely no service. The staff are unhelpful not interested and frankly could do with a scrub themselves. I advise to pay a few extra bob and stick with better recognized apartments while in Brisbane. Unless you don't mind never having sheets changed and love the smell of wok oil.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else even a motel! This place is dreadful. They will not accept cancellations after pay...

My cousin came to Brisbane and stayed here in a 2bed apartment room for 3 nights so I came over to visit, first of all noticed stale smell in hallways. Came into the apartment and just as others here have said, carpet looked old and just hooks on walls, pictures removed. Anyway took a seat and looked up at the ceiling and to my horror noticed what looked like little splashes of dried blood on the ceiling!? My cousin got on a chair to inspect closely and agreed it looked like blood to him too - we don't even want to know what happened here to justify this? So he called Reception and explained and they said their cleaner had finished his shift but they would send someone else up. An hour went by, we had given up on anyone coming so were getting changed to go out and this staff member just lets himself in without a knock or a hello and is standing in the lounge! He then said he get someone to clean tomorrow and left - no apology or anything, we were appalled. Next day came and went and no cleaners came to even change his towels or sheets or address the ceiling. My cousin went to reception to ask to be moved to another room or some kind of discount, reception were rude and said they were too fully booked so no - do not stay here!
