The fascinating menu, features fresh local ingredients, hosts over 30 different tapas with edgy additions like the Grilled sumac spiced NT barramundi with bloodless bloody Mary and the King Salmon and Sichuan pepper pâté with fennel confit. To compliment a drop from the acclaimed cellar of older vintages try the Baharat spiced kangaroo fillet with pickled beetroot, smoked chat potatoes and goat cheese sauce, grilled NT Goldband Snapper fillet with roasted cherry tomatoes and chunky chips, sumptuous slow-cooked tagine or Dukkah crusted Black Angus eye fillet on sweet potato mash with bone marrow and red wine reduction. There were seven of us gathered to farewell a colleague. We opted for the four course tapas banquet for $40 a head.It started with bread, but it wasn't just bread...and then a succession of wonderfully flavoursome little bits and pieces. The dishes arrived on the table looking great, smelling beautiful. Actually I can't remember eating better food at a restaurant or anywhere...not for a while anyway.

Was there enough food in these little bowls for seven people. Yes. Was there variety? Yes. Was it fresh and super tasty and interesting? Yes. If you are in Darwin, do not miss Moorish cafe.

The place was packed, but we had booked a table so we were sweet. The service was fast, friendly and efficient except for the waiter who delivered a pepper shaker when one of us ordered a Coke. We were too stunned to say anything.about that.

I picked Moorish Cafe because I often walk past it, and it looks cool. It is cool looking, the decor is very chilled and orange. It is air conditioned but also open at the front to an al fresco area so it was quite warm inside, but seriously, nothing could detract from how great the food was.

Had lunch here, staff were charming, I ordered the roast pumpkin salad which was OK, but my husband ordered the tapas special and picked the lamb as one of his dishes. OMG, a trip to Darwin just for the lamb would be worth it!

We were initially skeptical when we read the one and two-star rating comments. Indeed the serve is not bad but as tapas (cap on to of glass) the portion size is appropriate. The dishes were well presented, flavoursome and just right. Good selection of wine and sherry. No idea how 4 staffs managed to run the whole restaurant so effortlessly and effectively. Well done.
