Luxury in the fancy new part
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Aug 2022via mobile
The lagoon rooms, the newer luxurious accommodation with the large pool (lagoon) are excellent if you can pay $800 per night. It’s expensive but compared to the older style rooms are worth it.
Staff are very pleasant and the breakfasts are really tasty and generous.
Being close to the markets/beach is a bonus, and it’s cheap ($10) to Uber into town.
Quieter than the older part of the hotel who host functions/parties and share their pool
with anyone who turns up.
Security shut down a group who were playing loud music pretty quickly, so that’s pretty cool.

The larger rooms / suites out the back are nice. However the internal Casino rooms are definitely not worth the $450 per night. Very basic and tired, and do not even include bottled water (aside from two bottles on the first day when checking in). Probably in line with $150 a night room. There are no water stations anywhere in and around the hotel. For a hotel that is in a very hot climate this is obviously not ideal and should be standard practice. Staffing is an issue as there is no clear leader at the hotel. The casino is very poor standard. The Italian restaurant is great and a welcome addition.
The Lagoon pool is beautiful however the Infinity pool bar area is sub standard for an International hotel.

Enjoyed my three night stay here last week. Amazing staff. Especially the reception staff who’s customers service was outstanding. The facilities, food and cocktails were of high standard. Incredible sunset views from the ocean room. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at Mindil beach resort early this month .Rooms are dated and basic trying to get rooms service was difficult .Breakfast serving very small .However, the worst was that my wife noticed during our stay that the Resort debited our credit card twice .The front desk was made aware of this in person .First we were told we had it all wrong and we are only being charged once the next day we were told we are looking into it on time of check out we were told its being fixed .Same 19 days later we still don't have our money back .Charging a guest credit card TWICE and than denying it is not a very good practice unless of course you hope that guests don't check their statements .BE CAREFULL when you stay their

Room tip: Ask for ocean view but not close to very noisy pool

We were so happy to spend a few days relaxing in and around the huge grassy palm tree gardens in and out of the pools. Our room was lovely and looked out over the ocean and beach and we could sleep with fresh air and hear the birds. Spent the whole day reading by the pool. This resort has a beautiful tropical feeling with a retro edge that makes it very special. Excellent service and a special shout out to Sheridan on reception. Highly recommend staying here to enjoy Darwin and surrounds while feeling like you re on a tropical island somewhere.

I would have to rate the Mindel Beach Casino Resort a mixed bag. On the positive side it is a great location if you don’t want to stay in town. It has a beautiful outlook over the bay with magnificent sunsets each evening. The hotel restaurants are good and has a couple of very nice pools (so long as you don’t want to use the infinity pool on the weekends- see later).

On the flip side, for the money you pay the rooms are small and poorly appointed: basic tea & coffee facilities (cheap kettle & instant coffee, no nice Nespresso pod machine here), no info pack with details about the resort, restaurants etc, only 2 x “complimentary” bottles of water for a 6 night stay (was told we could buy more at the gift shop), no Netflix or ability to stream on the TV, no nice bath robes, no complimentary bottle of bubbles on arrival… it felt like a cheap 2 star motel room rather than expensive resort. Then to top it off, on the weekends the beautiful infinity pool is thrown open to the general public and it becomes totally overrun - good luck finding a deck chair. This is absolutely contemptuous for paying guests

With not much effort this resort could be a great destination but I doubt they will bother.
