This room cost $708.00 including taxes. This was the only type of room available and didn’t come with any inclusions.
The room was very worn and dated. It is frustrating reading that all hotels are doing a covid clean when clearly they aren’t. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, there was only one coffee mug and the bed head was designed for a king bed and looked very out of place. Crumbs on the lounge, cracked tiles in bathroom, carpet very worn.
All staff we came across were friendly and helpful, I loved the cheerfulness of the red headed lady at breakfast. Sorry didn’t get name
After staying at a few Novotel recently I feel that Novotel are letting down the Accor name

The stand out for this visit was the variation in service that we received and I expect that is a product of the current staff shortages. I booked the one bedroom apartment for 3 adults. I emailed on the day to confirm late arrival ( after midnight) and to remind hotel there were 3 of us so glasses, mugs, towels etc for 3 were needed. I did this because more often than not this doesn’t happen when there is more than 2 in a room. Flight runs late we arrive at 3 am - straight to room - not set up for 3- including no bed for our daughter. I could have cried I was so tired. Back to reception and to give credit where it is due an additional room was organized for our daughter but at the very far end of the hotel. I wasn’t 100% comfortable with this as there were some drunk men returning to hotel at the same time but I accompanied her to her room and made sure she was secure. Breakfast: became clear that nobody really knew what room any of us were in and therefore the fact that breakfast was included in our room charge seemed beyond comprehension. Various staff were called over to sort out the dilemma and eventually the right person arrived and the kerfuffle was over. That person returned 5 minutes later and gave us another set of swipe cards as he anticipated the first lot wouldn’t work soon. I was impressed that someone thought this through. The food was bog standard buffet with nothing exciting. Our bathroom had nothing to hold the toilet paper and the access to the shower over the bath was very poorly thought out and downright dangerous- the glass panel obstructed 2/3 of the bath and the space to step into was a sloping side of the bath where you would rest your back against if you were lying in the bath! And then there was the towel rail/ shelf sticking out into this area and of course the taps in the most inaccessible place. Really!

We booked a Junior Suite with Queen Bed and Harbour View for 6 nights. Sounds great but was anything but. We left after 1 night, moving to the cheaper, but significantly better, Metro Apartments. The one night cost us AUD $585. We arrived (from the Ghan) with 4 bags and no-one to help us with luggage (due to "staff shortages"). The public areas of the hotel were shabby and the elevator filthy (due to "staff shortages"). The room was dingy and when we turned the lights on, very dirty (due to "staff shortages"). The bathroom was filthy and the shower, over the bath. The showerhead was far too low for proper showering (that will be fixed by the yet to be scheduled "hotel building upgrade'). The queen bed was placed in an alcove for a king bed and the side tables fixed to the wall, too far from the bed to place a glass of water on them for the night. This was the worst "4 star" hotel I have stayed in during 40 years of travelling throughout the world.

Unfortunately there were lots of things that needed to be updated… bathroom door wouldn’t close, dirty carpet, sagging mattress, no towels.. and so on.
Great location and lovely staff… Cafe was delicious. Overall the hotel was too expensive for what it was!

The location was perfect and the lobby is lovely, but the room was very dated (and mouldy around the window). Lots of facilities lacking, had to chase up towels, shampoo, mugs, bath mat, etc. Our 4-person room had one towel rack and one hook only. The shower was tiny and had no screen/curtain so flooded the bathroom every time you had a shower. Staff didn’t seem concerned with our complaints
