This was our second time at Longitude 131, and we were not disappointed! There have been several upgrades since our stay 6 years ago, and while we didnt think there was anything to improve on, we were glad to be proved wrong. The upgraded deck on the bedrooms was the perfect place to star-gaze at night, and enjoy the ever-changing colour of Uluru from sunrise to sunset. The pool area was a welcome relief from the heat, particularly with the spray-mister. Our favorite change was the dune-top, with the plunge pool .. we had it all to ourselves one afternoon, and the 360 degree views and solitude were unbelievable. The food and endless bar options were as good as ever, as were the tours and experiences. However, it was the staff that made the stay so enjoyable - they were attentive, professional and knowledgeable .. a special shout out to Tiarna, Adam, Bec and Rachel, who went beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed there time in this very special place. We hope to meet you one day at another Baillie Lodge. Cheers, Karen and Rob

Dear Karen T (and Rob!),

Wow! Thank you so much for your glowing review. Longitude 131 has always been such a unique place to stay. With the recent addition of balconies on guest tents, redevelopment of the main lodge hub the Dune House and creation of the glamorous Dune Pavilion, we’ve sought to only enhance the incredible sense of place. We’re thrilled we could improve your overall experience. And we couldn’t agree more, there is no better way to beat the heat than being immersed in the cooling depths of the dune top plunge pool.

We appreciate your kind words about our staff. We are very proud of our team here at Longitude and they will be brightened to hear your endorsements.

We look forward to welcoming you again, perhaps to sister property Capella Lodge on World Heritage-listed Lord Howe Island.

Sincerely,

Team Longitude

My husband and I joined two friends celebrating a 70th birthday at Longitude 131. The staff, the food, the wine and drinks and the wonderful tents are all top class. The tours/activities which are also included are all very interesting and fun. This is a unique experience, not cheap but well worth every dollar. Once they pick you up to bring you to 131, everything is included and amazing. OMG the bar!!!!! Anything your heart desires.!!
The heat means getting up very early for any walking tour/activity , back for a swim, a beautiful lunch with wine and then the afternoon sleep before getting ready for the evening activities. Or a visit to their day spa which you have to book really fast or miss out. From your tent you have a wonderful view of Uluru, the large deck has a large day bed which they set up with a double swag and a gas fire with drinks on the side for a night under the stars if you so wished. The 131 dinner under the stars is amazing with beautiful food served to your table and the best wines. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a really flash few days away.
Thank you to all the staff, especially Brogan who on a sudden stormy evening, made up a super alternative to our original plans to make sure we all still had fun. Fabulous.!!!

Dear Coral P,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent trip to Longitude 131. From the many elements you’ve highlighted, it’s clear you had a fabulous time and also found the stay to be excellent value for money. The included guided activities are a fantastic way to learn about the ancient indigenous culture so embedded in the ancient landscape, as well being able to explore the outback’s iconic natural attractions up-close. And yes the all-inclusive bar is also very popular!

Beating the outback heat is essential. We put great emphasis on the structure of your stay to ensure the most comfortable experience possible, and we’re glad to hear we met your expectations. We are very lucky to be the only accommodation to directly overlook Uluru, and those end-of-the-bed views are quite unforgettable.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. We hope your friend had a happy 70th birthday and thank you all for choosing to spend it with us.

Sincerely,

Team Longitude

I first visited Uluru 14 years ago when I first moved to Australia from California. I could appreciate its importance as a landmark and have cherished photos from that trip, but I hardly remembered the experience. My memories were of a very crowded sunset viewing area, the cold August morning, and the red dirt that remained on my shoes long after I had left. This was partly because I had a toddler with me at the time, and Uluru was the culmination of a several days road trip via campervan driving from Adelaide.

This year I felt compelled to revisit this journey. My objective was to slow down and take in my surroundings. Uluru would be the main event this time. I had heard of Longitude 131 many years ago and always wanted to go there precisely because of its luxury experience and because it was so remote compared to the other popular resorts in town.

Longitude 131 lives up to its reputation as a luxury resort, with incredibly well-furnished rooms, elaborate menus at each meal that feature native ingredients, and the highly attentive and personable staff, but the real standout was the access and view of Uluru itself. The privacy and intimacy of being able to look out over your balcony towards this beautiful sandstone creation was the height of luxury. It is a completely unique setting for appreciating Australia’s most sacred spot.

I chose to stay 3 nights, and this meant many of the tours were included such as the 10km Uluru base walk and a short hike at Kata-Tjuta. I highly recommend 3 nights as a minimum to get the full experience. A complete itinerary was provided upon arrival with plenty of time to relax in the afternoon or linger over gorgeous meals in the dining room (also with a spectacular view of Uluru.)

And while I specifically came to experience the solitude of the desert, I was so impressed by how the property itself and the warmth of the people working there and other guests made it feel like a little community. We were all sharing the same special experience and wonder.

Whomever had envisioned Longitude 131 has really created something special. It is a beautiful tribute to such a sacred and magical place.

From start to Finnish our stay at Longitude 131, was flawless.

The team were so personable, lots of fun and had a keen interest to please every single guest;
Rachel- was so helpful in creating a one off dining experience for us, she will defiantly be a GM in the future as she has the x factor.
Dennis- has so much charm and was a absolute star when it came to food and drink.
Sidney- our tour guide, was the lucky charm of our trip, every where we went with him became these, out of the world, one off experiences, a perfect example was when he found a thorny devil at the side of the road and allowed us to experience the wild life, he was so good at connecting with all his guests and had the most fascinating stories.
Chris- organised a one in a million guided trip to see the waterfalls at Uluru.
Doza- in the restaurant, was so much fun, and she just made everything happen, with flair and pizzazz.
Adam- looked after our every whim, he was so knowledgeable on the property and the surrounding area.
Chef Toms- menus were perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, with a great variety, pleasing everyone. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, canapes and all the other foodie treats throught our stay were, “to die for.” He even made a beautiful chocolate cake with popping candy for my husband’s 40th Birthday.
Ben & Louise gave us the biggest genuine welcome it was just like being welcomed into their home, they were absolutely incredible in getting our special trip organised , including birthday surprises, nothing was too much hassle.

Thank you to all the other team members you made our trip very special and now have memories that will last forever.

Until next time.

Dear Simon M

Palya from the team (translating to 'thank you' in the local indigenous language) for sharing your superb review.

The natural outback icons - Uluru and Kata Tjuta - are the stars of the show at Longitude 131 and cuisine is also a drawcard. But it's also our people and their seemingly effortless attention to detail which keep our friends returning for more, as you've so perfectly expressed.

This is 'luxury' done the Baillie Lodges way and we hope to welcome back you soon.

Sincerely
Ben, Louise and the Longitude 131 team
