Description: Tetsuya's serves a Degustation menu of Eight courses. The menu is unique and is based on the Japanese philosophy of using natural seasonal flavours enhanced by classic French technique and utilising the freshest possible ingredients. Tetsuya designed his own on-site "test kitchen" within the restaurant to enable him to create the constantly evolving and inspiring dishes on which he has built his esteemed international reputation. Tetsuya's offers one of Sydney's most comprehensive wine lists and our sommeliers will, upon request, match the dishes with wine available by the glass. Tetsuya's does not accept or allow the service of BYO Wine, beer or spirits.

I really enjoyed my ovo-lacto-vegetarian degustation menu, including the exptional deserts and the sake chosen by our Japanese friends. My sea-food and meat eating friends also enjoyed their choices. The expectations for exquisteness are fulfilled totally.

The food was great, but it was not amazing. The restaurant has a nice feel but it doesn't feel like it has personality. The staff are polite and friendly but you can tell they have been directed in a particular manner and are not allowed easy banter with customers or to be jovial.
We dined in a group of four. 2 vegetarians, 1 wheat free and 1 normal. Wheat free is very straight forward as the meals are mainly fish/meat and salads and all of the desserts are wheat free. The vegetarian option you can tell does not get nearly as much thought or practice as the standard menu. The options looked plain and somewhat lacking. One dish quite simply was broccoli with garlic roasted over the top. At the same price as the standard menu, this was very disappointing.
The dining area looks onto a typically Japanese garden but the blinds are down the entire evening with them just ajar so you cannot really see out, would have been nice for the blinds to be up, and the lights dimmed with the garden lights on so you can look out.

All in all, I wouldn't rush back. The meal was nice, matching wines were good. We also got a bottle of champagne and a sticky at the end. Ended up costing $1800 without a tip. For the 2 vegetarian diners, $460 a meal for some veggies is a bit rich.

Went to Tetsuya's for a birthday with a few friends. It wasn't quite how I imagined it, but it was still pretty exquisite. The staff were amazing and wonderfully helpful. Price is not cheap but given the quality of the food it worth every penny.

This is our second visit to Tetsuya's and it continues to shine.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a significant birthday and the wonderful staff went out of their way to make it a memorable night - it would be hard to beat the staff and service in this restaurant.
The food, as expected, a standout.Even the substitute meals (due to dietary needs) were very special. The combination of ingredients in each and every dish highlights the skill and mastery that has gone into the menu.
At the end of the evening, we were presented with our own copy of the menu - with 'Happy Birthday' custom printed.
Tetsuya's is the type of restaurant that everyone should visit atleast once- and more if possible.
Outstanding and highly recommended.

A friend organised a private room at Tetsuyas in Sydney for our wine tasting dinner.

I know some people say they have become a bit stale/stagnate over the years – I reckon without a doubt they are still world class. The dining space takes you a world away from the maddening of the Sydney CBD you can almost see people breathe a sigh of relief as they arrived as if a big weight is taken off their shoulders and they can just relax and forget about the outside world for a while. The Service staff are cool, professional yet affable and almost English Butler-like in their ability to anticipate what you desire without actually asking for it. I think I heard someone say ‘very switched on’ which sums it up nicely.

The food has always been all about the ingredients rather than out-there combinations and presentations. Yet it has to be said the bringing together of disparate ingredients into one dish, creating a whole is done with masterful skill. Every ingredient has a role to play, and they all come together like a symphony – dish after dish, after dish. Cooked to perfection, sauces matching perfectly, not detracting or overwhelming only complementing. There were so many standout dishes the Octopus, The Toothfish, the famous Ocean Trout, the Duck all great in their own way. There were no mediocre ‘filler’ dishes in 10 courses.

The Somm did a sterling job with our wines and glassware, maintaining a constant dialog with us and what/how we wanted the wines served, giving recommendations, and even being the bearer of bad news in a couple of cases. (and not charging us corkage in each case). He even presented us with a custom printed menu with all our wines typed up correctly at the end of the dinner, which was a really nice touch. Tets is still the type of place that everyone should try at least once in their life.
