A surprise birthday gift - a dinner voucher at Quay and the 8 course Tasting Menu with wines. The location is excellent, the service, food quality and presentation first class. If your are looking for a superb location offering everything then Quay is the one.

With much anticipation, we approached Quay Restaurant, expecting a first class dining experience. We were greeted by the hostess, who acknowledged our anniversary and took us to our seats in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered wine from the sommelier,
and perused the menu.
Quay Restaurant is located in the Upper Level of the Overseas Passenger Terminal. During the cruise ship season, large ships block the view of the Sydney Opera House.
For lunch you must select from three or four courses, or the tasting menu of eight courses.
My wife ordered three courses and I, four.
Regrettably our meal was disrupted by a group of seven boisterous gentlemen
that were disregarding the rules of the restaurant.
At our request, we were moved to another table. From that point we were ignored, except for the wine steward.
For the past forty-four years, my wife and I have sought the best in fine dining establishments, in many parts of the world.
Quay Restaurant had some of the most interesting food. This was offset by atrocious service.
The wine list is very good.

Dined here with a work mate. Chose the tasting menu. The scallops were flawless and same with the complimentary wagyu tartare but the next few courses were good but nothing notable. The lamb was disappointing. It was well cooked but what was so special? It was lamb with a few types of green vegies and black garlic. Simple and not much excitement. The cheese course and desserts. Cannot compare to anything. They were amazing. The snow egg i thought it could not be beaten but then the last dessert came out and was on par with each other. Perfect. Coffee was great and service was lacking abit of attention. The waiter explaining the courses was perfect but the others need some work for 3 hats. Would definitely come back and reccomend though

All courses except for desert were pretty uninspiring and lacking the wow factor you'd expect at such a credentialed and expensive venue.

I read similar reviews before booking, but assumed they were from very fussy foodies. I should have listened.

So disappointed.

Deserts were 10/10, the service was great, views amazing- but doesn't make up for the food and the price... sadly.

Sedate and relaxed ambience with a fantastic view of Syney Harbour and Opera House.

Fine dining - well executed. Service was professional but not overly 'familiar'. An expansive menu which is introduced by personalised wait-staff. A great cellar is a great complement to a great menu. (Get a taxi).

Naturally, the star of the show is the food. Wonderfully fresh, creatively prepared, artistically presented and well sequenced.

If you have a special occasion, the Quay provides the ideal backdrop - at a price.
