Before heading to the Art Gallery I had a latte and a mixed berry muffin at the pavilion kiosk. The coffee was great and the pastry amazing as well, but the place itself is the best thing.
I sat on the tables outside the kiosk overlooking the gallery and the park and it was just perfect...It was not busy at all...maybe it was early (I went at 9:30 on a sat morning) so I had the whole sitting area and view for myself. Haven't tried them, but I've been told that they make the best fish and chips! Maybe I'll go back for lunch before leaving Sydney...

We had a red balloon voucher for The Pavillion Cafe for lunch, which had a limited menu to choose from but the food we chose was really good. Very tasty and well presented. The service was good. We would have rather sat and looked over the Botanic Gardens instead of looking at the street and the Art Gallery. A lovely restaurant but the view could be better.

The food was pretty good but the service was terrible considering we went for lunch on a rainy day so it was basically empty. It took ages for someone to take our order. Then questions we asked of the waitress they didn't know the answers to and then said they'd ask and then just didn't bother, which you could forgive if they were busy but they weren't. Basically the waitress was pretty unfriendly and unhelpful- pretty much prerequisites for a job as a waitress.
Just shows how much bad service can ruin an experience even if the food is good... Disappointing....

There was serious cooking going on at what is more than just a convenient cafe in the park. The fixed price set lunch had delicious Mediterranean tastes and good presentation, the salad, chicken and pasta dishes were the work of a serious chef and carefully prepared, and the house wine was a good pairing.

This is a nice alternative to the museum cafe and on a sunny day the terrace was nicer than the noisier group dining inside.

Had a get-together with friends. Good ambience. We could all converse and be heard. Enjoyed the food. Reasonably priced. Pleasant staff.
Would recommend this restaurant, especially for that special occasion or if you want to enjoy each other's company.
