Owner description: Circular Quay is a colorful port where ferries and cruise ships board and depart, and boat watching can be as good a pastime as people watching. While street performers entertain outside, those wanting a more cultural experience can head into the Museum of Contemporary Art where a sculpture garden on the roof is as much a view as the waterways below.

I seemed to end here quite a lot. There is a convenient metro stop. It is, of course, the base for ferries, and I took the Manly ferry from there. One can also often see ocean liners - I saw the QE2 docked adjacently. There are good views of the bridge and the opera house, and both are within easy walking distance. I also had a couple of meals in that area, having found one restaurant which was not quite as expensive as the rest. It is clearly a social focus, and it is very pleasant to be there in the sun!

This is a lovely place to visit in the early evenings. You can catch ferries here or walk to the Opera House and then find a restaurant for dinner. We found a great place to eat which unfortunately I can't remember the name of. It was not directly on the water but you still had a great view of the harbour. Those nearest the water are the most expensive and not necessarily the best. Anytime of day is great for a visit here but I prefer the afternoon especially in summer as there should be a cooling breeze.

Thank Lisa k
