This area is one of the financial centers in town, surrounded by sky scrapers, many of them bank buildings. It's also a transit center, lots of people around on weekdays. One of the centers of town.

I walked very often on Martin Place during my recent business trip to Sydney in April 2019. It has a lot of activity. My hotel The Westin Sydney was located near Martin Place. There are many office buildings mixed with stores and restaurants. Near Martin Place and Pitt Street is a beautiful fountain. Martin Place extends uphill all the way to Macquarie Street so it is a good thoroughfare for walking around the Central Business District.

Martin Place was buzzing during our last furlough in Sydney. There were street performers of all stripes and a great many musical offerings.

We went here to visit sunrise while filming in the hope for our 5 seconds of fame. Unfortunately the weather was a bit cooler then we were prepared for so we bailed before our chance at being on tv!
Would recommend any sunrise viewers stop by, have to be there early though!

It’s the heart of the CBD surrounded by major retail brands , many restaurants and bars and crosses from George Street through to Macquarie Street. Also easy to get to with buses using most streets and several rail stations within easy access.
It’s also home to that modern phenomenon, the millennial, who has no peripheral vision.
As a result, they cross and hit you every few seconds as they mender through the streets with an IPhone attached to their hands and eyes and not looking at who may already be in that space.
