“Simple hotel at central location”
Reviewed 14 January 2012

Had the pleasure to stay here for 2 nights in Dec. Might be a little challenging to get to on own, I took a shuttle. Found it extremely central to many of the Sydney offerings like Aquarium, Imax, HRC to name a few.

The hotel is simple, spacious rooms and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms however were a bit dated and I personally think they needed to be refurbished.

The price was right for central Sydney and I feel that this was their main strength. Also I consider them to be in a safe area. Would come again.

Good location - no noise, a short walk to central station and broadway bus stops, comfortable beds. On the down side, for older less active people - a bit of a walk to public transport. Few Australian eateries close by. We had a major problem with the supply of hot water for bathing. we stayed 3 nights - i reported this on the first morning of our stay; problem was supposedly rectified; no change, reported again - yet to see the outcome. After the second report i was told that there must have been a problem that morning with the whole hotel and yet no one else had reported the problem. Was not given any alternative or recompense. Was then advised that i should just wait 10 mins as it was probably because everyone was trying to have a shower at the same time . . . three different times of the day. Room was dirty - not vacummed properly with chocolate wrappers, medication and paper from previous guests in the room, mould in the grouting in the shower and dusty screen door.

This hotel it in a great location, it is on a quiet street, is 5 mins walk if that to the Power House Museum and about 10 minutes walk to Monorail and Darling Harbour. The rooms were big, there were four of us in the room, the staff were excellent. you have tea and coffee making facilities, there is a fridge in the room but no mini bar (this did not worry us), but those who do like a mini bar they did have a vending machine type bar in reception. The beds were so comfortable, proabably one of the best beds we have slept on in a hotel in a long time.

The only negative thing I would have to stay is that the bathroom needed abit of a make over (this isn't a big issue), and that there isn't a resturarant that you can use at night at the hotel, they do have breakfast available in the mornings at $15 per head all you can eat (bacon, eggs, baked beans, sausages, ceral, toast, fruit just to name a few). Even with no restuarant onsite for dinner, the staff were eagar to assist and inform us where to go, we ended up walking 5 mins up the road to an amazing Pizza Place, the best Pizza I have eaten.

I will certainly recommend staying here and if we head back to Sydney we would look at booking here again.

This hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Powerhouse and 10 minutes to the heart of Darling Harbour, yet costs about half that of the bigger chain hotels! We had 5 people in our room, including a baby in a portacot, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The staff were very friendly and the parking was a bargain at $25. Downsides were that there was no wifi and the shower head was too low, but I would stay here again.

This hotel is on a quiet street and is well positioned for Chinatown and Darling Harbour. I stayed for 6 nights and the reasonable prices gave me a large room, good bed and pleasant and helpful staff. It is true the hotel looks a bit dated, and my bathroom needed a good scrub/paint but I didn't expect it would be perfect at those rates. My husband who came for the last couple of nights was annoyed by a noisy air conditioning system but it was OK by me. Fortunately I had reasonable neighbours because the walls are quite thin so it could be a different story if you had a bad snorer next door. A blower could have got rid of the cigarette butts on the roof below my verandah but it was a pleasant view through the trees in front of the hotel.
