Owner description: Climb aboard and join the action at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Spectacularly located on the waterfront in the heart of Sydney's Darling Harbour, you'll find tall ships, Navy vessels, a submarine, beautifully restored historic boats, fascinating temporary and travelling exhibitions and fun-filled activities for the kids. The museum houses the National Maritime Collection, which features over 140,000 objects, capturing themes such as defence, exploration, migration and coastal culture. It also includes one of the largest and most diverse in-water fleets of any museum in the world - including submarine HMAS Onslow, Navy destroyer HMAS Vampire, tall ship James Craig and Captain James Cook's HMB Endeavour replica. Visiting the Action Stations exhibition is a must for an immersive museum experience like no other, where you can explore that danger and drama of Navy life at sea.

I really enjoyed this place. Excellent historical exhibits, a chance to walk amongst the moored ship collection and submarine and entry to the Endeavour, exact replica of Cook's great ship when it is in harbour.

When you go to the Maritime Museum, make sure you get the combined ticket and have fun discovering the ships. How often do you get a chance to walk through a submarine and leisurely explore a destroyer and a tall ship? The static displays in the museum are good, but it's the ships that make the museum excellent.

Really nice museum in a great location. The vessels are fascinating, particularly the Endeavour, and the museum proper has some absorbing exhibitions. The kids' programme was very good.

I didn't think I'd find the museum all that interesting but it was fantastic. The volunteers were sensational and very helpful, the displays were great and very interesting.
