A Sydney icon & the views of the Harbour are sensational & unless you take a helicopter, you wont get these sights.
We are fortunate enough to live on the harbour, and having travelled to many places around the globe are sure our harbour is the best.
One of my most memorable experiences, some years ago now, was the privilege of taking a Colleague from Boston in a small helicopter over the harbour and many of the waterways radiating from it in all directions. Both of us felt that this was a terrific thrill and a once in a lifetime experience. The proximity of everything from such a small height highlights the wonderful proportionality of the waterways and surrounding shores.
Of course the Harbour Bridge (opened in March 1932) and the Iconic Opera House now nearly 50 years old, cap off a wonder of geographic development over eons.
The helicopter flight was more than 30 years ago.
Great place, good atmosphere, wonderful houses and buildings, perfect for a sunny afternoon walk. The rocks has many great restaurants. Perfect for the tourist.
Everyone knows the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House area but some of the best views of both are to be had from two walks on the North side, namely Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach and Spit Bridge to Manly..Neither particularly arduous but good footwear and plenty of water a must!
Do also visit Garden Island and Cockatoo Island with their maritime connections , both only a stop or two by ferry from Circular Quay.
Very pleasant place to spend a day. There are many ferries that will take the visitor to places like Taronga Zoo, Manly or Watsons Bay. All these places are worth a visit.
