We had not been to a Mantra hotel before and were slightly concerned about some of the negative reviews we read prior to our visit. However we were really pleased with our one bedroom studio apartment. It was spacious, clean, tidy and very well stocked. There was a seperate lounge area with an additional TV and although we only stayed for two nights we would have been really happy to have stayed longer.
The central location is excellent but because it has two busy roads bordering the hotel we did ask for a room on a higher floor to reduce any potential traffic noise.
We had no problem with the staff who were all polite and helpful with a quick and efficient
check-in. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the less traffic noise

I was staying in Hotel mantra for 2 months. it was awesome.. i was on business trip. it is very close to Sydney opera house, darling harbor and many pubs... the rooms are tooo good spacious and amazing staff. The swimming pool on top floor is amazing with city view and also facing sydney opera. There also Gym facility. If anyone planning for business trip in sydney and that too in CBD then i will prefer them to stay in hotel mantra. It has swimming pool, gym wi-fi , kitchen facilities and many other facilities. Cheers to hotel mantra,

Stayed here on business, and heard some mixed reports. The poor reports were accurate unfortunately.

Room was furnished OK, but had not been well cleaned. Floor not properly vacuumed, and bathroom slightly moldy in places, with hair in the shower plughole. Not pleasant. Kitchen units also not well cleaned on surfaces.

In the CBD with few amenities around the area, the bar/restaurant closed at 9.00pm. Was not even possible to buy a beer after this time and staff could not suggest anywhere close to get a drink.

Overall very disappointing for a highly graded hotel. I won't be staying here again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!

We had a great time at this location, the queen bed with a step down to kitchen and lounge dining area, we had south facing room with a small balcony (not used much as it rained all weekend...).
This is great location if you want to explore Sydney.
It is close to shops, close to 'The Rocks', the ferry terminal, the Opera House and Darling Harbour.
We found the room clean and tidy with everything we needed for a short stay.
11am check out was great and the staff at reception were friendly, the night door person was friendly.
If you arrive by train get off at Wynyard station exit onto George Street and a short (200m ) walk to the North, to easy, just do it.

Although the location was very central, the tired rooms (with a weird lay-out) were tired and uninspired. The pool on the roof could have been great, but it was far too cold to spend any time in! And the staff were indifferent and clearly couldn't have cared less whether we were having a decent stay or not (no eye contact and certainly no enquiries as to whether or not we were enjoying our stay!) We would not stay here again.
