Booked through BA holidays and got a great deal. Was delighted to find that the location is bang in the centre of The Rocks at the top of Nurses Walk.

The building has been beautifully and tastefully renovated and has a modern and quirky feel. I arrived on the early flight from London and checked in at 0700. The receptionist was really helpful and even though my room wasn't ready he managed to find one that was. I wasn't too happy with the size of the bathroom (you sit on the loo with the basin in your lap) so he changed it for another which also had a great view of the opera house.

There is a lovely roof terrace where I drank cappuccino and socialised with other guests and a super little crêperie which did lovely tea and coffee.

From the hotel it is but a two minute walk to Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. I was only here for two nights on my way to New Zealand so didn't have heaps of time. I took the ferry from Wharf 3 to Manly Beach, a lovely trip which takes half an hour each way and affords the most wonderful views of the harbour. (Lunch at The Pantry overlooking the ocean, expensive but worth it)

Philip Footes Cook House is just a few steps from the hotel and is a great place for an unusual meal out (choose a steak and cook it yourself on the barbecue whilst chatting to other diners)

All staff I had dealings with were smiling, chatty and helpful and I had a wonderful stay, well done.

No very modern boutique hotel is in the heart of the action. It may not be waterside but the character of the place and intriguing warehouse door address make up for it. One block away from the water but step outside to bars markets and street life. One minute to galleries pubs and all that the Rocks has to offer. Very simple modern room, some might think a little too simple but very comfortable. Great little bar and reception. Will be back

Great hotels are defined by their staff and the Harbour Rocks is no exception.

The hotel itself is good - excellent location in the Rocks, with more character and interest than the usual chain hotels, but it’s the staff - front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and especially the night manager, Moss - that makes the difference.

Highly recommended

If I could pick ONE thing not perfect with this hotel, it would be that there is no life - but on the good side the stairs are good for your legs and a lovely staff member carries your bag to your room.
The staff are friendly, the room is extremely roomy, the bed very comfy and the bathroom roomy enough. With views to the bridge and the proximity to the best place to stay in Sydney - The Rocks - it would be my choice for every Sydney stay in the future.

This hotel is a more than pleasant surprise in many ways. It is very comfortable and has very helpful, kind and attentive service. The interior architecture was designed in a very nice blending of the old building with modern elements. Beautiful view from pur room. Nice quiet first floor Terrace, good inhouse restaurant. Immediate and effective help for getting electronic tickets for the Sydney Opera House and for sending books home. Cosy library at the reception with iced orange tea. Would not mind to live here for some months.
