A colleague and I stayed for one night prior to an early morning flight from Sydney airport..as a better option than the airport hotels. Speedy checkin and checkout. The hotel building looks a bit old but the inside facilities are good, rooms clean and tidy and free wireless from the room. The concierge was very helpful in directing us to a restaurant. One of the three lifts was out of action so there was a bit of a wait at one point while a large tour party found their way upstairs. Of interest was that the room keys didn't need to find a slot, just waving them nearby activated the door and the lift. Pretty convenient if you have your hands full.
Didn't notice and street or room noise.

As we were joining a cruise from Sydney we only needed i night's accomodation so having had good service from Holiday Inn in Hangzou when on business I decided to try the Darling Harbour Hotel. We arrived by air at 7.30 a.m. and proceeded to the hotel expecting to wait until 2 p.m. for the room but to our pleasant surprise a room was made available on request at 08.45 and we were able to freshen up and make the most of our full day in Sydney. The following day we requested a late check out and was again impressed with the obliging reception who allowed us to use the room until 1.30pm and to go directly to our cruise ship for the 2pm check in. Breakfast was good with the usual buffet continental at 20$AUS each or hot style and extremely efficient in dealing with the diners. The room on 7th floor was the typical Holiday Inn, very good size, clean and equipped with tea making facilities, fridge flat screen TV. The bed wasking size, very comfortable with a choice of pillows. The extra surprise was the circular monorail passed by the side of the hotel, this provides a very quick and easy form of travel to most areas and you can get an all day ticket which if you make more than 1 trip is very attractive.

Location is excellent, a few minutes walk from all the bus stops, across from the Entertainment Centre and on the edge of Chinatown with access to some great restaurants. Check in was professional and smooth. You need a room card to use the elevator; a person waiting for someone to bring down the room card was a common sight. No hair dryer and no wireless access in room loses this hotel 2 stars. Wireless access in the lobby was too expensive to be practical. The mini-bar fridge was empty. The room was reasonable size with very comfortable beds and both hard and soft pillows. It featured a new fat-screen TV and a comfortable sitting chair and accessible writing desk.

Thank you for your feedback, it is most appreciated. You will be pleased to know that we have just completed a WiFi installation throughout the whole hotel and this includes 30 minutes free access per day in the Hotel lobby. WiFi is now available in all our guest rooms. Both hand held and wall mounted (in some rooms) hair dryers are also available. We have purposely removed the mini bar from all our rooms to allow guests to either stock the fridge with their own supplies or order the items they require from our Room Service Dept. . Once again, we thank you for your feedback.

The check-in was efficient and friendly, the room with a queen bed upgraded to a corner room with a king size bed and 180 degree views of the city and Darling Harbour area. Bed was extremely comfortable and pillows of different firmness available ( I had a beautiful soft down and feather pillow ) and the blinds meant that the room stayed dark. I absolutely loved the mini-bar, as they state, as you like it. The fridge is empty, so instead of having to pull out all the beer, soft-drinks etc. to put in your own wine, soft drinks and water, it is exactly how I like it. All mini-bar standard fare can be summoned by room service, so if someone is wanting to order something they havent anticipated wanting, they can.

Room Tip: Ask for a high up corner room to maximise the views

this hotel is right downtown, right across the street from paddys market (literally a 2 minute walk, if youre slow like me) and its a great place to get food and really the BEST priced souveniers in Sydney. Trust me! The downside to the hotel was that we were on level 11 (top floor) and that was great, except that we had 4 suitcases and once we got to the top floor, there was a set of 10 stairs that led up to the room (no elevator access. period.) other than the stairs, the hotel itself is a good walk from either the railway stations "central" or "museum". even "town hall" was a walk, so if youre not big into walking, be sure to look up the metro system and plan accordingly. maps all look flat and there are lots of hills around. my husband and i were able to easily walk to darling harbor, the IMAX theatre, and the chinatown. room had a fridge (nice and cold) and bathroom was roomy. also, if you are trying to get to this hotel by shuttle bus (the one they state is $14 on their site info) it is NOT through their hotel and you will need to make different arrangements. its some other company that takes you about 50 minutes from what i was told to get to the hotel. plan your shuttle ahead of time!

Room Tip: level 11 had stairs with NO elevator access so if this is a problem for you, DONT do it! had a hard...
