This is also listed as 193 Pitt Street. It was built in 1890 and opened in April 1892. It is the last remaining example of a retail shopping centre once common in Sydney. It is the oldest and and only surviving Victorian arcade. It is a five storey Queen Anne Revival building connecting Pitt and George Streets.

Gorgeous historical arcade building. Definitely worth checking out when you’re in the area. Only gripe I have is that most of the stores here are the types you wouldn’t go in and shop, because they are specialty shops and that it caters to the top end of people (in my opinion). Only wished the store were more diversified and catered to everyday people. That said, there’s a JB HI-FI and some lovely cafes.

What are great trip down memory lane. With interesting shops and eateries. Where will you find a cigar and hat shop today except here.
A Harry Potter type area with its narrow walk areas and the bustle of people. A piece of the 19th Century.

The Strand Arcade is a beautiful, 19th century building complex. A shopping Arcade where you would love to go any time. It is a Victorian style shopping mall, established in 1891, and it is heritage listed. Inside there are some of the loveliest stores in the city, including amongst others fashion, jewellery and cafes. We have been there several times and keep going back. Worth a stop for an hour or two!

There's something just charming about walking through The Strand. Olden day architecture and decor. It has a cafe with excellent coffee, boutique shops. Best seen in daylight. The Italian restaurant upstairs has good pasta.
