Stayed here at the beginning of July after getting a cheap deal on Expedia. Stayed in a deluxe single, with ensuite bathroom, which was quite small, but was perfect as I was on my own. A hotel room is simply somewhere to sleep, so I wasn't overly fussed at the lack of space. The bathroom was in good condition, and the room had TV, fridge, iron, kettle, radio alarm, hairdryer, a safe, and ample wardrobe space. There were washing machines and dryers on the same floor as my room ($3 each). The free breakfast was excellent, and as I was up to eat when the cafe opened at 6.30 (7am weekends) it was quite quiet. I did notice later in the morning on the way out that the cafe did appear to be busy, confirming what many other people on here have commented on. The cooked breakfast option for $5 was also handy, although most mornings cereal and tea was enough!!! There is also a free newspaper every morning.

The staff were all friendly and very helpful, and the room was kept clean and tidy. The location of the hotel couldn't be better for getting round Sydney. The Museum rail station is just a couple of minutes walk round the corner, and this gets you to Circular Quay or Central Station within 10 minutes. Even for walking, the main shopping areas are only 10 or 15 minutes walk away, there are plenty of shops just round the corner on Oxford Street, and Hyde Park is just at the top of the street. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sydney - excellent location and great value for money.

There is a decently priced lodging option in central Sydney.
The Y operates a functional hotel in a prime location near, and just downhill from Hyde Park. Breakfast (included) was ok and can be upgraded at additional cost. We had breakfast early after experiencing problems finding a table during the later breakfast hour. Our twin room had a kettle, tv, and fridge; the shared bathroom was across the hall, but convenient. The hotel offers a reasonable price for internet on their 3-day package, and decent speed. Watch out for the wind in Sydney! (We had no idea that city had such fierce winds.)

Dear WinkeButeneers
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback from your recent stay with us
Regarding your experience when you were dining for breakfast. At times timing can be critical as we can never predict when other guests decide to dine. Fortunately guests generally finish breakfast quickly. We do have excellent wireless internet speed and we appreciate that you have noted this.
Regarding the winds in Sydney, yes they can be fierce, especially with all the tall buildings, winds will strong in certain sections of the city.
I hope your trip to Australia was fantastic experience and look forward to when you are next in Sydney
Warm Regards

You can't get a better location than this!
Very nice rooms, very clean. Excellent breakfast.
The guest kitchen could use an update, it only has a microwave oven, so no other cooking facilities.
Very friendly staff.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a room with your own bathroom, it's worth it :)

Dear WinkeButeneers

I am very happy that you found our rooms and service exceeded your expectations.
I note your comment regarding the guest kitchen. Yes it is a basic kitchen but that is how it is designed and this allows those guests who wish to utilise this facilities for light cooking only but I will take your comments on board.
Thank you once again for your comments and we look forward to when you are next in Sydney

I'm glad we stayed here, as it was excellent value for money and very central. We didn't want to spend much time in our hotel, as we wanted to see as much of Sydney as possible,so it didn't matter that it was basic.

The reception staff were fabulous, friendly, helpful and professional - they couldn't do enough to help. The free breakfasts were also a bonus. The room was even more basic than it appeared on the photos - it was a 4 bed with shared bathroom facilities. There was no mirror and no reading lights which made it hard when we were sharing with the kids.

The shared bathroom facilities were also basic, and their cleanliness depended on the time of day. Sometimes it looked like people had been having a toilet paper fight. The showers were awful - drizzly water pressure and no mixer taps, so I spent my time alternating between scalding and freezing water. If this hotel were to improve one thing, I think they should upgrade the showers. Even in a budget hotel, you should be able to have a decent shower.

Dear Sam B

I am pleased that you found our hotel perfect for your needs.
The room type that you selected was our base room category and which suits guests such as yourselves who spend minimal; time in the hotel and maximise their time elsewhere.
I note your comments regarding the shared facilities and will investigate how we can improve in this area.
Thank you once again for your comments and we look forward to when you are next in Sydney

I liked the place a lot, complete cleanliness. Amazing washroom facility. You would love to stay at this place in CBD of the city, Not too cheap not too expensive. I could say this was one of the best hotels of Sydney in terms of value for money.

Room Tip: Choose a room in between 3rd and 5th floor
