Waited almost an hour to get out of the parking. Total lack of management!
The food was ordinary and expensive. Totally spoilt the concert we went to
I'm really not going to spend a lot of time on this review as its obvious the designers didn't spend much time on testing how a venue like this might be used in the REAL world....
I won't go into a lot of details but it started badly for us when Taxi dropped us 400m from venue. He said that getting any closer on a concert night was extremely difficult due to the design. We thought he was pulling our leg but we walked rest of the way and pasted number of stationary taxi's who couldn't get closer.
After waiting 60 minutes to get access (due to one security scanner), yes ONE, they finally opened all the doors and let everyone through without checks to attend a show that started 45 minutes late due to everyone being delayed.
Unhelpful staff on seating and if you are over 5'8, you are going to HATE the seats.
Sorry ICC Sydney, I've written many reviews and always try to be fair, but leaving the venue 'sore' with limited access to taxi's or trains made me vow that my first visit would be my last - unless its an act I really want to see.
What a shame...
Went to Tina Arena concert. She is Awesome as usual. However, forcing ppl to check in bags bigger than 20cm is ridiculous. No water bottle or backpacks are allowed. No matter how small the backpack is you HAVE to check it in! Took a long time to get through security. Tighter than fort knox. There is only one entrance so be prepared to wait to get in....
Due to poor management our VIP Q and A was cut way too short. Not enough toilets for a huge stadium. Don't get the cheapest seats as it is so steep you will get vertigo from sitting there! Not enough leg room between seats, the designer just want to cramp as many seats as possible into the hall. Water was priced around 5.00. I was at front row however photographers stood in front of us for the first three songs. Security did nothing. A fist fight almost broke out. It t would've been better having the photographers do the photos during soundtrack maybe?
Concert hall looks awesome on the outside but inside it's a mess.... 2 bars serving food that is awful, and expensive. Eat before you enter. Not enough seats to sit down and eat your food. Only saving grace is that it is close to the light rail so it is an easy trip back to central station. (Remember to tap on the opal card at the station before boarding the light rail)
Overall, I preferred the old entertainment centre. Management and staff needs better coordination and training.
I attended the Tina Arena concert last Saturday 30 September. I found the ICC was excellent in terms of acoustics and viewing of the stage.
What was obvious, though, is that venue management still has some work to do in terms of dealing with ingress and egress from an operational perspective. Both of these aspects were slow and cumbersome. As a minimum there should be a longer window for early arrivers to access their seats to take the heat out of queueing when doors are opened too close to show time.
Food and beverage concession queues were acceptable and reasonably seamless. Door opening for this show was 30 minutes later than advised which didnt help with the loading of the venue.
Another great example of architects at work. All about design and nothing about practicality or function. We visited a recent trade show there and there were trip hazards (plumbing) in just about every aisle (and yes, people were going over so I hope the centre's public liability insurance is paid up!), entry was confusing and most exhibitors we spoke to said the loading dock was pathetic with huge wait times. Externally the building is stunning but thats were the compliments finish. What a tragic waste .
Attended a conference here. This venue is amazing, spacious rooms and tastefully decorated. The food was good and plentiful throughout the conference. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only complaint would be not enough seating or standing tables for meals.
