Description: Set in beautiful poolside surroundings, Uccello is ivy's hidden rooftop gem. Featuring an authentic Italian menu with only the freshest produce, each dish allows the ingredients to speak for themselves. Head Chef Ben Sitton’s menu combines intricate flavours with influences from all over Italy. Think Piedmontese tartare with anchovies and witlof or goats curd tortelli with peas. Making the most of Uccello’s stone oven, Ben has also perfected wood-fired proteins such as octopus with chickpea puree, quail with pomegranate and Bangalow pork loin with Tuscan cavolo nero. The dolci menu is also not to be missed, try deep fried citrus custard or Zokoko dark chocolate mousse for a sweet end to a relaxed afternoon atop ivy. Uccello’s menu is also perfectly complemented by an outstanding wine list by Head Sommelier Tim Perlstone, featuring 450 Italian wines.

On a weekend night with a visiting friend from Hong Kong, we hit the table and cocktails at Uccello.
It was oysters and Negronis by the Ivy Pool as we took in the views around the pool.
As the dinner worked through chilli calamari, roast beetroot and goats curd followed by pasta with spammer crab and tortellini ragu, it was time to chill with the cassata semifreddo!
After that, a wander around the pool with the music turned up a few notches!

You might feel like you need a directory to work through all the restaurant choices The Merivale Group affords you, but through a process of availability and a helpful Concierge we decided upon Uccello. I was at first reluctant about an Italian restaurant located by the famous pool section of The Ivy, but it turned out to be our favourite restaurant of our Sydney trip.

Adam, our waiter was beyond exceptional. His understanding of every item on the menu suggests he eats here regularly. And I know gluten free requirements can be annoying but there was no issue with my scanner crab pasta being served with a GF spaghetti. Top marks to the sommelier too, whose name escapes me, but he pointed us in the right direction for my choice of wine from the Alsace region. He also did a very discreet tasting of our wine to ensure it was perfect (and not potentially corked).

I love the variety of choices the group affords you. Next visit will be Felix, for some French fare.

Had visited Ivy's before but did not realise such a great restaurant was also hiding there. Staff were very good. Food and wine were excellent. The meal was unrushed and very enjoyable.

With a group of 10 so we were required to have a set menu. The food was lovely but I need to come back and have my choices. Nothing like food envy when another dish goes by your table. Service good food good bit pricey for lunch expect to pay what we did for a special dinner. Have to say the cassata dessert was great.

Will try again as it is nice to be semi outside by a pool on a work day.

Quality food, pleasant surrounds, delicious food, service was a mixed bag. Ask for a both close to the pool to make the most of the venue. the highlight was the rabbit ragu, very broad wine selection with pages and pages of Italian wines, we went for a chianti.
