We have stayed here before and this time we were disappointed.Lack of vibe, lack of standard.

Overall service was acceptable but staff were not engaging. Maybe it's a Canberra establishment thing, business people don't want to engage but tourists do as we were on this trip?

We would have to concur with others that the breakfast service is substandard for a property of this level. Breakfast offering is great but little things need attention.

The rooms are large and well appointed. What lets the place down is cleanliness. This too is not up to standard. Little things like grim around the jug, stains on chairs which on my observation could be removed by professional cleaners. So why haven't these stains been removed?

The above said, this is still a good hotel to consider when staying in Canberra, offering value for money if the price is right. Therefore we would stay again .. however we also would now consider other options. We have rated this review with 4 stars as to rate it lower would not be fair to the property but at the moment based on what we saw, it's worthy of a 3.5 star rating only.

Room was large and overlooked the park, had only booked it for one night by mistake and this was dealt with effectively at the front desk. Room decor is standard for a 4-4.5 star hotel, rooms and public areas have been updated a tad since last visit. Location is great for work and shops and only 15 minutes form the airport. Room service breakfast was good. Lunch was fine. Only gripe was the conference room was very cold and despite feedback and intervention it didn't improve. There are several new more up to date hotels in Canberra but this was a very good value and pleasant stay.

We stayed over a weekend in August, we had a park view room , bed was huge and comfy, bathroom was clean. Overall the room was very quiet with no outside noise. Staff were helpful and friendly and the location of the hotel is perfect if you need to go to town. It is handy to most of the attractions and would recommend.

My wife and I have a preference for Crowne Plaza hotels as they usually have a fantastic breakfast and a great standard of service. We have stayed at several properties around Australia and the world. Our last weekend stay at Crowne Plaza Canberra was extremely disappointing. Yes everyone decided to come to breakfast at almost the same time but is this not normal on a weekend? The only egg ready and available on the buffet was a very unappetising scrambled egg, so nearly everyone opted to have their eggs cooked to order. On Saturday the lone chef on the egg counter did a fantastic job of cooking orders on the 3 hot plates he had available was eventually swamped and waiting times ballooned unacceptably.
On Sunday the same thin happened in spite of a second chef being assigned to help. With only 3 hotplates available he could only take orders and assist in a minor way.
Most of the food in the chafing dishes was lukewarm and the bacon was only a few degrees above cold. Staff were slow to refill chafing dishes. On the fruit section a tall glass vase was filled with oranges but unfortunately an orange in the centre of the stack had obviously been in there a long time as it was completely covered in mildew.I had to find the restaurant manager and point it out to him before the oranges were removed from view.
I reported my disappointment to reception on check out and apart from promising to report it to her manager, she was a trainee, but because of her poor English I was unable to understand when or how that report would be given. I left in frustration. Here's hoping things improve before our next stay.

Room tip: Choose rooms with a view of adjoining park if you don't like views of office buildings windows and road noise.

I stayed at this hotel with my family from 26th Aug - 28th Aug 2016. Very unhappy with the management of breakfast at the Red Salt restaurant; lack of supervision; most of the food was finished quite early in the morning when the breakfast was scheduled up to 11am, and not replenished until we complained e.g. tiny pieces of smoked salmon scattered on the plate; no ham; no crispy bacon; no croissants; no sausages; no grilled tomatoes; no mushrooms; no fruits etc. Some of the missing food was then later brought to our table specifically and subsequently replenished at the breakfast counters. The same breakfast situation was repeated on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. We didn't expect the food to be brought to our table after we complained. I felt like they were only trying to make us happy when others were waiting. The croissants at the breakfast counter were under cooked as not fully baked. Coffee was then ordered and staff dumped it onto our table in takeaway cups, which was not expected as we were sitting at the table. This is not a cheap hotel and I expected a better breakfast service. A supervisor is required to continuously monitor and replenish food on time. I will not be staying at this hotel anymore!
