“The best kept secret in Canberra!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2011

I could go on and on.. but the reviewers before have been spot on.
Luba & Chris are the most wonderful hosts, giving you your space but at the same time are lovely and charming and interested in what you are in Canberra for.

The room is perfect... it is huge, spotlessly clean, and you feel like you are staying in your own home rather than someone else's. This is because Luba and Chris have thought of everything! The bathroom cabinet had more essentials than I have at home! :-)

Other than being delightfully comfortable and furnished, the location is superb for Canberra.. with so much to see only minutes away.
The house is in one of the quietest streets in Australia, and the whole property is just a delight.

I've stayed on the other side of Canberra and can not believe how expensive it all is.
Do yourself a favour.. and only ever stay here. It is cheaper, cleaner and much nicer than any swanky hotel down the road!

Things worth doing in Canberra....
Questacon.. great for kids, they will go nuts.. left me and hubby a bit bored tho.

Do yourself a favour.. save the money and take the W.O.W tour at the zoo ( which is less than 10 mins away from the B&B). you will never ever regret it!!! It was the most brilliant day I have ever experienced!
http://nationalzoo.com.au/

If you like Thai food.. Lemongrass over on the civic side is yummo and still cheap considering the prices of eateries around it.

All in all.. look forward to finding a reason to go back to Canberra.. we had such a great time!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Our job is made so much easier when we meet so many lovely, interesting people and you both fall into that category. We really enjoyed our chats with you about mutual interests and especially about animals. We hope that you manage to find another suitable property close to your respective workplaces so that you can improve your work-life balance. Looking forward to meeting you both again soon.

The most gorgeous bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. It was perfectly exquisite and my partner and I, simply wished we could stay longer. You want for nothing. We were so relaxed by the end of our visit. Our hosts Luba and Chris were divine. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail was superb. Their kindness and thoughtfulness coupled with their pragmatism made them the most perfect hosts. It was simply the best. We can't wait for a return visit in the near future. There is so much to see and do in Canberra. Practically Lakeside is in an ideal location.
Thank you again xxxx

Thank you for your review of our B&B. We enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to meeting the girls next time you come to stay. We hope that you are successful in enrolling them in the horse-riding camp during the school holidays.

We arrived at our destination late in the day, following excellent directions from Luba and Chris, and were welcomed and immediately made to feel at home. Knowing how difficult it is to navigate around Canberra by night we were so appreciative when Chris offered us the use of their sat nav and programmed in the restaurant we had booked! The accommodation at Practically Lakeside is so well laid out with a large living/bedroom, separate dining room and bathroom and with a private entrance from the street. An extremely comfortable king size bed with highest quality sheets and pillows had us wishing we were staying longer than 3 days. Nothing was too much trouble for Luba who served us up a delicious continental breakfast - including a wonderful fresh fruit platter, each morning and helpfully advised with places to visit and other useful information. We were delighted to find that although we were so close to the Galleries, Botanic Gardens, restaurants and most of the tourist spots around Canberra, Practically Lakeside is exactly that, a quiet peaceful tree lined neighbourhood next to Lake Burley Griffin with wonderful cycle and walking tracks. Chris and Luba very kindly lent us their bikes and helmets and we enjoyed a blissful hour or two just cycling and taking in the wonderful scenery around the lake. We have no hesitation in recommending this extremely comfortable B&B and we look forward to a return visit some day and taking up Luba and Chris's offer of taking our their kayaks!

Thank you for your wonderful review of our B&B. We really enjoyed your company & chatting with you. Autumn is probably the best time to visit Canberra and you were lucky to see sensational autumn displays and experience lovely weather with brilliant blue skies when you cycled around Lake Burley Griffin. We look forward to your next visit and will have the bikes & kayaks ready for you!

My wife and I drove down from Sydney for a short break and spent a couple of days at this B & B located in the serene Canberra suburb of Yarralumla. The room was very comfortable, as was the massive king size bed! It was nice to enjoy the sounds of nature in our surrounds! Our hosts Luba and Chris were fantastic, and went out of their way make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We went for the full cooked breakfast each morning and each time it was delicious.
The location is very central, and with the bikes Luba and Chris offered us we were able to take advantage of the great riding tracks near by. Lake Burley Griffin is a couple of minutes walk away, and other attractions such as Parliament House are an easy bike ride away, or easily accessible by bus if you don't have a car.
This was a very enjoyable way to relax in this beautiful part of Canberra! We will definitely be returning!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our B&B. We hope that you both can go kayaking next time as well now that the lake has been cleared of the debris after the floods. It was a shame that your wife didn't get to go horse-riding during your stay however. If she still wants to do this next time, we can book her into a session ahead of time to avoid disappointment. We look forward to you both staying with us again.
