I had been eager to try this local Vietnamese restaurant for some time, hoping for good local Vietnamese food, even noting that it had a very limited menu, I thought they must know it well and so cook it well. Sadly not!

So I finally got to have dinner and not only am I disappointed but very embarrassed that I took an out of town visitor here.

We ordered an entree and mains to share, the staff brought out the entree which whilst we were trying to eat, they proceeded to deliver all of the mains as well.

So not only do the staff have no idea of service order, let alone customer service as they crammed other plates of food onto the table around us, which proceeded to get cold as we finished the entree, they didn’t clear any empty dishes away, we had to stack them aside and serve and share food around them and as we were sharing a few dishes it was awkward and annoying even though it wasn’t exactly a lot of food!

On asking if they were licensed, told corkage service $2.50 per person, the staff member then stood there looking blankly at us as which after repeatedly nodding and saying yes to they eventually worked out we were accepting of the charge that they went and got wine glasses, put them on the table and walked away, guess it was self serve too?
Good thing it was a screw top!

We then had to call staff back to ask for water and glasses to be provided.

As the cutlery is provided in containers on the table we tried to get attention to ask for more cutlery, could not get a staff members attention, as they were behind the counter out of site, we had to get up and help ourselves off other diners tables, apologetically interrupting their meals.

All of us agreed afterward that it was the blandest, least tasteful and most disappointing semblance of Vietnamese food we have ever encountered.

Sadly I wish I had never gone here, if the food was good it could’ve negated for the awkward service.
There is no joy here

On a high note the staff know how to process a payment efficiently!

We come here often since it opened. Consistent quality and authentic flavours. Excellent for dine in and takeaway with great prices. Highly recommended.

Simple Vietnamese food from a limited menu but what we had on our visit was devine. Nice decor, fast friendly customer service, quick service of food, simple decor, comfortable, not too noisy, relaxed and great food. Too easy!

Tra Vinh is an unpretentious simple restaurant/cafe with a very limited menu. It does not purport to be anything other than a local eatery servicing the Casey Market Town shopping centre and the nearby suburbs in Gungahlin. The food is prepared fresh for you while you wait in traditional Vietnamese way. There is a very limited selection of dishes but they are each scrumptious.
