We stayed at Peppers Canberra on a recent weekend stay and chose the Peppers based on its location and having previously stayed at the superb Peppers in Mornington Peninsula.
We checked in late after the 3 hour drive from Sydney and settled into our comfortable premier room and then after this parked the car in the building next door which was a bit of a chore, but at a relatively reasonable $15 a night.
The room was reasonably well maintained apart from the leather (?) pealing off the bedhead onto the sheets. It was spacious, and came complete with a mini bar, coffee machine and a good selection of cable channels. The room had a view of the courtyard and despite a well functioning AC to maintain the room temperature, the same could not be said for the bathroom which had no heating! Using the bathroom in the middle of winter in a freezing bathroom is not my thing.
Service was pleasant throughout the hotel, although we didn’t sample the restaurant. Surprisingly there is no room cleaning on the rate we were on, making your own bed for $170 a night misses the mark in my opinion. They did suggest you can pay more to receive a room clean.
Overall not a bad choice of Canberra hotel, and less than 10 minute walk to downtown.
