Relaxing stay just outside the Grand Canyon

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Apr 2024
Just minutes outside the south entrance to the Grand Canyon. I had read mixed reviews in the weeks leading up to our stay, but had a completely positive experience. Check in was easy and we got a room in building 3 which we were told was the most recently renovated. We were able to park outside the entrance to the building. The hallway was odd- somewhat dark and dank, and dirty linens were still bagged up outside the room doors. But the room was bright, nicely appointed and clean. I’m not sure why other reviewers questioned the resort fee- there was plenty to justify it. Indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, a gym, outdoor games (ping pong, cornhole, et al) a game room and bowling alley. It was a perfect place to relax and unwind after walking the Grand Canyon all day. They had two restaurants on site, but we did take out from a local restaurant. I don’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to you!
Date of stay: April 2024
Room Tip: Stay in building 3 for renovated rooms.

Check in process is ridiculous. Plan on waiting for a while. Also plan on paying a”resort” fee that you probably won’t use where they will extort another &25.00 from you. Not worth it.

I am so sorry you had to wait during your check in. We are working on ways to speed things up during peak times. Our resort fee. We try to put all that value back into your experience with a dive in movie, complimentary laundry, $5 arcade credit, pools, hot tubs, lawn games, complimentary water, parking, wifi, etc. But I get it, it isn't for everyone. Safe travels to you and I hope you are able to visit again. We would love to wow you properly.

Good hotel for visiting Grand Canyon, reception staff were helpful but lack of WiFi anywhere other than the main building was very frustrating… initially staff said it was the weather and then gave up trying to find an excuse. Be warned if you are in the single story buildings you will be in definite WiFi darkness 🙄.

That said, food in the restaurant was good, especially the buffet breakfast and salmon at dinner. Certainly not cheapest but where is in the tourist locations.

A big shout out to Ty on reception who was extremely helpful and even offered to open the business centre when I needed WiFi. Also Bryne in the gift shop who went off to search for a larger tee shirt whilst I was a breakfast 👏👏

Room tip: The guest laundry is free - washer and dryers - all you need is laundry powder/liquid 👏👏👏

The interior of the resort is beautiful and the stone walls and water features are a perfect complement to the surroundings. Our room was very nice and comfortable, but we were told that we had an upgraded room, so make sure you check into that before booking. The room had all the amenities we needed, although the coffee machine over-flowed. There aren't many good restaurants in the area, so we had dinner in the dining room one night and the pub another night. The food was good, but took a long time to arrive. It seemed they were understaffed and our waitress was stressed. The activity area would be fun for children, although the bowling alleys needed a lot of repair work.

Room was close to lobby. Hotel is pricey, but you're only a mile away from the South entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park, and it was the week of spring break. The breakfast buffet was expensive, for what was available, but there were five of us, including grandkids. Like what other reviewers said, it's a fun place to take children. They have an enclosed hot tub and fitness center in the building adjacent to the main lobby! Our room was close to the lobby, and the room and staff were excellent. We would have extended our stay, if we could have, but they were fully booked! :(.
