“Living in Paradise”

We loved our stay at Palmview Villa. Kathryn, Hillroy and their son were great hosts. My husband, 19 yo daughter and I really had a splendid time. Kathryn emailed us directions to where we were to meet her after we secured our rental car, a week in advance of our trip as well as her cell phone number. On our way to the villa she showed us a number of places of interest as well as a grocery store and ATM.
We loved the pool! The property is well landscaped with lots of fruit trees and feels very private. Every morning we sat on the deck to drink our coffee and eat breakfast.
The water is solar heated, and there is good water pressure. There was only one time when we ran out of hot water to take showers at the end of the day. Even then, it was still warm.
We brought some groceries in our suitcase like cereal, snacks, granola bars, coffee as groceries on the island are quite expensive. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics and there is a small clothes washing machine as well.
Kathryn compiled a list of places to visit. We highly recommend the Balenbushe Estate and Stonefield Estate for dinner. Kathryn called and made the arrangements for us for Balenbushe. Kathryn and Hillroy took us to Mama Tillie's restaurant one of the evenings we were there. That was another highlight.
If you like a chance to get away from the big resorts and experience more of the local culture then this is a good place to stay. Kathryn and Hillroy have many connections with local people which made our stay in St. Lucia much more enjoyable.
One bit of advice: if you choose to rent a car pay more and rent an SUV. The main road around the island is in pretty good shape, but many of the side roads are not. Also, for us Americans, driving on the opposite side of the road took some getting used to.
We are very grateful for the gracious hospitality shown to us by Kathryn and Hillroy. By the end of our stay we considered them our friends.

“Our hosts became our friends”

Our hosts Kathryn & Hilroy met us outside the airport and immediately made us feel welcome. On the drive to the villa, they stopped to show us places to eat or visit, banks etc.
The villa, is secure within a quiet neighbourhood and is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. With insect mesh on the windows, we could safely leave them open, enjoying a balmy breeze and didn't need to use the ceiling fans, even at night. The patio and decking overlook a well stocked garden with humming birds and many garden visitors. At the bottom of the garden is a lovely, well maintained swimming pool. Being centrally located beaches and attractions were in easy reach and the touristy north of the island quite reachable using the east coast route. Kathryn & Hilroy, made extra helpful suggestions of things to see and do during our stay, they made us SO welcome, providing hints and tips to make the most of our stay. We thoroughly recommend this property and the hosts. We will be returning!

“A home in paradise”

The description of this beautiful little gem does not do it justice! Staying with our 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter, we had the peace and quiet that daily life does not often allow us to enjoy. The iPads were left behind, so reading, making things, playing games and cards, and swimming were easy for everyone. Even the small television set provided was disregarded and we never heard "I'm bored"!
The first impression was a huge "WOW!" from everyone, and the emotion was still the case a week later when we sadly had to leave it all behind.
As with previous guests, we were met by the most lovely couple, Kathryn & Hilroy, a couple of minutes from the airport, at a bar on the beach. A couple of drinks later, we were driven to the villa, whilst shown all the facilities and beauty spots along the way. Living in the south of the island is easy, away from the hussle and bustle of the north, we felt. As we arrived on a Sunday, the fridge had been replenished with the usual bread, milk etc, and tea and coffee was kindly provided throughout. There is nothing Kathryn and Hilroy wouldn't do to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. We even had our Sunday supper cooked and brought down on a tray for us!! The kitchen is set up as if for a permanent stay, with everything you can think of, even a panini toaster and a blender! And fresh mangos are provided from our very own trees, but Hilroy came back with real fruity treats from his dad's garden as well, not to mention the gorgeous homemade punch :-)
Hilroy is up at the crack of dawn every morning to clean the decks and the pool before the kids even have a chance to think "water!". And advice was provided everyday with suggestions for local visits and beauty spots. The Sulfur Bath near Soufriere is a must (and seemed to genuinely help the healing of our son's skin), followed by a dunk in the waterfall at sugar bay. Kathryn even made numerous phone calls on our behalf to book sea excursions to see dolphins, or even to book us a hire car!
We had quickly decided against hiring a car at the airport as the family knew Nigel, a local taxi operative who could offer a small 4x4 for about half the price. We were taken back to the Reef bar on Monday morning, keys were handed over, "permission to drive" arranged, all with Hilroy's help, and we were on our way.
We hope that you too decide to stay with this marvellous family in what was paradise to us. You will surely have the most relaxing and beautiful welcome, as we did.

“A REAL HOME FROM HOME HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION”
Reviewed 18 June 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We spent 2 weeks here over Easter and had a wonderful time. Its a real home from home location, with everything you could possibly need.
The apartment is very large and airy, with doors opening out on to the patio and decking. We were able to pick wonderful sweet grapefruits off the tree in the garden for our breakfast and for mixing with juice with our Malibu.
The swimming pool and area is lovely, well kept and really well laid out with a choice of sun or shaded areas.
You do need a car to stay here as it is in the countryside - we hired ours from the airport, and then met Kathryn (the owner) at the local bar - which actually is the best bit of the island in our view. She led us to the apartment which was really helpful as we would have got lost.
It was great having the owners living upstairs, as we had the benefit of being independent but the support of local people when we wanted to get ideas, hints and tips for getting the best out of our holiday. They are a fab family, and we feel like we've made some lovely friends.
In particular, go to the beach at the Reef, where we met with Kathryn on arrival. It has some bars, toilets, free wifi and the most beautiful beach and scenery - only 10 minutes away.
We also found a fantastic waterfall and pool that had been heated by the volcanos, and it was like having a hot shower in the middle of the rainforest - really surreal - this was only 10-15 minutes away as well.
Its ideally situated (provided you have a car), away from the plastic resorts but close to lots of lovely places to visit. And there are some nice walks round the back - we took the family dog for a walk a few times and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the country.

“Great Villa in the south of St. Lucia”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We stayed in Palm View Villa for a week and had a great stay. The place is very spacious with a large living area and outside deck. Fresh grapefruit from the tree in the Garden were available every morning. Kathryn and her partner who live above the property were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

The property is located in the South of the Island, away from the main resorts in the north and is perfectly located for driving up either the western road to Soufriere, or the main road to the east.

I would certainly recommend this place to anyone!
