“Beautiful cottage + ideal location + friendly hosts = lovely peaceful holiday!”
Reviewed 16 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This beautifully decorated cottage has all the comforts of home - and more! The location is perfect - conveniently close to Keswick but remote and peaceful at the same time. The hosts are lovely - very welcoming and friendly. Our labrador, Jack, loved having the enclosed field to run and play in. And we all enjoyed the excuisite freshly-laid eggs! Overall, we had a lovely peaceful holiday and would highly recommend this cottage to other Lake District visitors!

It was great to meet you both and see Jack enjoying his first visit to the Lakes. I'm sure he will bring you back to the fells many times, and you will always be welcome here at Greenbank Farm.

“Delightful cottage in the peace and quiet”
Reviewed 8 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

A lovely little cottage where we spent a really enjoyable few days with our dogs exploring the beautiful countryside around. A really nice touch of fresh eggs greeted us when we arrived and when meeting the delightful owner we were very kindly offered more, from the chickens in the garden!

With Ullswater lake just down the road it is a great place from which to enjoy all the different areas around the lake. We really enjoyed Aira Force and walking back around the lake on the Ullswater way after taking the steamer up the lake.

We would definitely recommend and we have even talked about taking the adjoining 8 bed cottage as well in the future and come up with the whole family.

“Great get away from it all location”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Loved this place. In the middle of nowhere with brilliant views of the hills. We stayed with our 2 dogs, who loved it also. The cottage was in need of some refurbishment at the time, but the new owners have done that now I believe. There was plenty of room for the 2 dogs to run about the garden, and the new owners have now made the area more secure.
The cottage is on the ground floor, which meant that the 2 other properties were on the floor above - that was a bit annoying as you could hear people moving about but it is the way it is designed. The first shower of the day is VERY hot as the hot water supply is shared with the other rental property - even on the coldest setting it was necessary to keep switching it off and on and have the hot water running in the sink. That may have now been fixed. Wi fi not great.
As a dog owner the major issue was that it is not possible to walk the dogs direct from the door. The wood at the end of the drive is privately owned. However the cottage is not that far away from great walks and lakes. We also love Keswick which is nearby.
The owners were lovely and I'm sure that the property will improve over time.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Greenbank Farm so much. We enjoyed meeting you and your dogs.

As you mention Glen Cottage is now enjoying its refurbishment in terms of decoration and new furniture throughout in order to maintain the high standards that we as the new owners wish to provide to all our guests.
In addition we have now fenced a secure 2.5 acre field for dogs to play safely in to their hearts content. Paradise!

We are sorry that you had an issue with the hot water at the start of the day. We have now looked at the thermostat and addressed this issue.

We hope very much to be welcoming you back to Glen Cottage in the future

Regards

Paul and Fiona Chapman

“Glen Cottage: Good location, great views, decor and furnishings tired”
Reviewed 25 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We would rate the cottage itself as average not luxury in terms of décor and furnishings. The settees in the living room need replacing as they are end of life. It states in the welcome book there is a problem with drainage when there is a lot of surface water. We didn't notice surface water but there was a strong unpleasant smell from the sinks in the kitchen the whole visit. We used a bottle of Dettol to neutralise it throughout the week. People above were fairly quiet so no real noise issues. We found it very strange that there was no guest comment book, as we often find this useful for feedback, not just on the cottage but places to eat and drink; visit; good dog walks, etc. We would recommend the property to dog owners if it was possible to get the odour issues resolved, and it was re-decorated.

“Relaxing”

My husband and I stayed for our first wedding anniversary and also took our 2 dogs with us for the weekend. We wanted somewhere peaceful with easy access to picturesque walks where the dogs could stay mostly off their leads. This cottage was prefect. Within a very short distance we found what we was looking for. The cottage was warm and cosy and well equipped and accommodating for both us and our pets. Would highly recommend, we had a perfect anniversary weekend and even the weather was kind (well mostly)
