Great Resort. Great Staff - warm courteous and very accommodating. Rooms are spacious with modern amenities. Excellent location 5 minutes from the Park Gate. Very easy access to the park. Great value. They are still completing the pool and the health spa after which this will become a complete package.

Travel Review Hotel:- Svasara Resorts

Location:- Kolara Gate Tadoba National Park

Accommodation:- Luxurious Clean accomodation. The Bathrooms are clean and well kept. All amenities are present in the room.

Staff:- Extremely Helpful and accomdating. Mr. Ranjit and Mrs. Nandita require special mention as they are always out and about talking to guests and fulfilling every possible requirement. Mr. Ranjit is liked by the gate officials and guides as well and his guests always get that extra care and attention.

Activities:- Safari only. Tadoba Andhari is a wildlife lovers haunt and dream come true combined into one. The safaris are 4 hours each and there are 2 safaris per day. Please remember that the Park is closed on tuesdays and confirm safari allocation with Mr. Ranjit prior confirming booking. Kolara Gate has an allocation of only 9 vehicles into the park for the safaris and thus ensuring safari availability is an absolute must.

sitting with the guides and disussing the days sighting after the evening safaris is a pure pleasure.

Spa:- Not operational

Shopping:- nothing nearby
.
Food:- OUTSTANDING . Buffet meals but nothing lacking in anyway.

Price Range:-We Paid INR 8750 per person inclusive of all meals , all safaris, etc....

SINCE THE PARK IS CLOSED ON TUESDAYS, ONE SHOULD ENDEAVOR TO MAKE THE WEDNESDAY MORNING SAFARI AS THE SIGHTINGS ARE VERY GOOD

What an outstanding place. That is the only thing that comes to my mind when I sit down to write this review about this lovely place called Svasara.Lovely not just in terms of buildings and landscaping, but outstanding & warm which is largely due to the loving and warm staff that Svasara has in place at their resort headed by a warm and able Ranjit Mandal.

We decided to go ahead and stay here for two nights following a reservation policy fiasco. The person who heads the place-Ranjit Mandal was kind enough to go the extra mile and accomodate us for a different set of dates.

Following this we were there in mid-February'2012.Finding the place was easy. The place is well marked on all the maps and GPS devices so getting there was a breeze.Plus the resort has ensured that they have boards in place all the way from Chimur.Chimur is the closest town from Svasara.Approximately 5kms away.Beyond Chimur towards Svasara you would hardly find any inhabitation-vast open fields and farmlands and you already get the feeling that you are leaving human territory and entering animal territory. There is an eerie stillness in the air which more or less tells you about the change of control from humans to animals. The Kolara gate at Tadoba is a gate that has been opened around June,2011.

One cant miss the resort on the main road and can easily be spotted. It is about 100meters or so from the Kolara gate of Tadoba. There are 12 functional cottages and they are all set in a straight line facing the main road but at a very considerable distance. The spaces within the resort look a little empty and am sure in around 6months time, the empty spaces would look full as they are having plans to landscape the entire area.

The kitchen is functional and you could either leave it to them to make dishes as per their wish or else you could let them know what you want and things would be made accordingly. We did not want to take the added headache of deciding what to eat etc so left that business to them and they did not disappoint.Food was decent. Not exactly great but definitely on the better side.A word of advice-do not ask the chef for local dishes as we found them to be an utter disaster.Having stayed in parts of Maharashtra for a long some time we were well versed with the local cuisines and local dialects we found that you are better off sticking to the routine affair of the Dals and the palaks and the paneers!Tea & coffee was available whenever we wanted(a lovely service to have). There is an inroom coffee maker. The bathroom is very modern and well equipped. The wet and dry areas are well separated out.Water force in the showers and other taps was more than adequate.Hot water was available throughout our stay at all kinds of times.

The room has a large King Bed with all the other modern amenities that one comes to expect in the upper range business hotels in India. There is a LCD TV serviced by a Tata Sky Set top box. There was a in-room chips and biscuits platter which comes complimentary and is replaced on a daily basis alongwith the water bottles-A nice gesture indeed. The rooms have split aircon units and individual geyser units for hot water. Please bear in mind that all these facilities come to you in the middle of nowhere.Sourcing all those things for the general upkeep of the resort would be that much extra difficult for the staff. So that makes it doubly appreciable. There are bonfires set up on request at a specified area.

We opted for an all meal plan exclusive of the safaris. This let us have flexibility on doing the safaris at our own times. We opted for two morning safaris.Svasara has their own modified gypsies.Pictures attached.Lovely ones.In fact the only modified Gypsies ones in the whole of Tadoba Reserve which let us see the reserve in a comfortable and relaxed manner. The gypsies stand out inside the park thanks to their distinct modifications. The resort's driver takes you inside. The resort arranges for the entry permits and local guides.Presently they do not have an inhouse naturalist but we were informed that they have someone joining in the next couple of months. The guides that the resort has tied up with are very well behaved and quite knowledgable. They know the trails like the back of their hands and were pretty good at tracking wildlife. We did have one brief encounter with a Tiger Cub in the Pandharpurni zone of Tadoba. For information sakes,a tigress and her three cubs have made this zone their home and so tiger sightings have been very common. Also Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve has the highest density of tiger population at the moment in India. We were not really tiger centric during our safaris so that made things easy for us.We just wanted to see everything that we possibly could in their natural habitat. The trackers and guides helped us see so many different varieties of birds, monkeys, sambhars, deers, leopard, peacocks, wild boars etc.The safaris were very addictive.Svasara packed us a mini breakfast and juices and water in the gypsies to ensure that we never went hungry during the drives.A very nice gesture again on the part of the resort. The safari timings 0630 to 1030 and 0230 to 0530.Mornings are more preferred for the safaris and wild animal sightings are more during the morning. Please note that only 9 vehicles are let in from the Kolara gate during the morning and another 9 in the evening. So advisable to let the resort know accordingly. Also absolutely not advisable is to take your own cars into TATR.Dusty trails, total OTR(off the road) territory and one would hardly be able to spot any wildlife from the low grounded cars.A gypsy is a must and if its the modified Svasara gypsy all the better. Also please note that the reserve is closed on all Tuesdays so please plan accordingly.

Breakfast, dinner, lunch was served either in the lawns of the resort in front of our rooms or in the restaurant(was purely dependant on our moods!)Since we were the only occupants during the time we were there,I guess we were really pampered to the core.My daughter had a lovely time with all the lovely staff. There are cycles available for you to cycle around as well. The resort does accept card payments,so no issues on that front. What I absolutely loved about the place is that there are no fixed food timings for the meals which means you can do your bfs, lunches and dinners when you want them(early or late)they are ready!something that the other resorts around the country could learn from here.

Overall a brilliant stay and we cant wait to come back here for more.We are already making plans to return here for the wildlife and for the resort.Svasara is easily the best in the area by miles.Do not even bother looking at any other place if convenience, comfort and excellence in service are things you look for in a hotel.A special thanks to Ranjit and his entire staff for making the place what it is and hope it stays the way it is that is more challenging I guess.I for one would like to see this place go on the way it is.

Room Tip: All the rooms are in a straight line,so nothing much to choose.

We spent 4 wonderful days at Svasara Resort which is located just outside the Kolara gate from where one can enter the jungle immediately without wasting any precious time and this is where the action lies ..The resort manager Shri Ranjeet and his wife Nandita really go out of their way to make the guests welcome and comfortable. The entire staff is very polite , eager to help , always smiling and above all, do not hang around expecting 'tips'! The rooms are clean, the toilets are sparkling, there are all the amenities required to make one really comfortable. The food is good , the plates ,crokery and cutlery is clean.I for sure will be visiting this amazing place again and again..and above all , Ranjeet is so positive that one is sure to have a good sighting! We did !

Room Tip: All rooms are good

We just came back after spending 3 peaceful days at the Svasara resort at Tadoba. The rooms are the best in that area. Comfortable, thoughtfully appointed and enough luxury for a jungle resort. The staff is very attentive and Ranjit, the resort manager makes a wonderful host, making a good trip better. The resort's best point is it's location which is right next to the kolara gate and that's the part of the sanctuary that has all the action. I definetly recomend Svasara.
