Stayed at Gnylmarung camping ground which is on the road to Middle Lagoon. This place is paradise! Run by Alphonse and Delmar in a very low key fashion. Only twenty unpowered sites so never really busy. Facilities basic, gold coin donation for the washing machine. Basic showers and some flushing toilets, some drop loos. Rustic beach shower is a great addition. Beach is absolutely stunning and you're right on top of it. Couldn't rate it more highly, well worth the trip!

The Dampier Peninsula has some great places to stay - glad you checked our Gnylmarung and enjoyed it.

The Local Community run the hatchery and show how they collect trocus shells and prepare some for sale to tourists. The shells and the reef are suffering from bleaching and climate change. From the beach here you can see whales frolicking in the sea. Dolphins are about also. The sea is crystal clear and the reef is visible. The Indigenous Peoples here live on sea food and fish. Fishing is great. The beaches have unusual sandstone features which are signficant cultural sites to the Aboriginals here, part of their Dreamtime and Creator stories.

Flew in via horizontal falls. Great spot for nature lovers. Nothing is 5 star but is an amazing place to visit. Road to Broome is corrugated red dirt and you need a 4wd - wouldn't recommend it for normal cars or large caravans

Hi,

yes - definitely 4wd. The road says no caravans at the beginning and people need to be aware or that for their insurance liabilities.

Glad you enjoyed your visit.

The sunset at Kooljaman is a bucket list thing to see. It's so beautiful. There are lots of other lovely beaches too, and we did a great tag-along tour organised by Kooljaman, that allowed us as inexperienced 4WD drivers to have a go driving around on the beaches. Excellent place to go.

The trip into this area is an adventure by itself Jacinta and her family make you most welcome. We only had two nights but you should allow yourself 3 or 4 if possible. It is a bush camp drop dunny and a great shower set in the trees on top of the cliffs only 9 camp sites so you need to book but the home made cake and coffee is well worth the trip. The photos I've taken don't do the beach and cliff lines any justice all I can say if your looking for a quite out of the way place on Cape Leveque it's the place to go. Ring from Broome before you go and being a bush camp there are some bins but like all good campers do if you cart it in please cart it out to keep these areas natural. We really enjoyed it
