Visited here for a Family Birthday on a Sunday lunchtime. Lovely greeting and atmosphere. George was so welcoming and humorous. The Sunday lunch menu was fab. We ordered a mix of Italian and English including Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puddings. Food was excellent, desserts were great too. All in all a wonderful restaurant in lovely surroundings. Easy to park in large private car park. Relaxing lounge area. Very special.

Having read a load of reviews on here I have to say I was very slightly apprehensive about our visit to this place. However we couldn’t have been more impressed. No the menus are not freshly printed, and the decor is slightly dated but who cares. It actually feels really welcoming and homely.
From the minute we walked in we were warmly welcomed. It’s a great touch having a lounge area to sit with olives and a drink to peruse the menu before being taken to your table.
The menu had plenty of delicious sounding meals and then a couple of specials for each course too. It was tough to pick.
We were unsure on which wine to select so were given a couple of recommendations to try. The whole experience felt a lot like we had been to a good friends for dinner.
We can’t fault the food which was all delicious and particularly the starters were very generous portions.
There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and it was really busy. Then who doesn’t love a dessert trolley!!
We thoroughly recommend this place and will definitely be back. We are only sad we didn’t try it sooner.

I have read a few of the reviews and whilst its true that the decor may need a bit of attention and the menus refreshed (looking a bit tatty), we came here for the food and the service.
The service was excellent form a wonderful Italian family, the food stunning, proper Italian home cooking. Added to which the setting was beautiful overlooking the countryside.
We will undoubtedly be back

I write this review with a heavy heart but I have to be brutally honest in that our anniversary meal did not meet expectations after the restuarant was recommended by friends who admitted afterwards that it had been 2 or 3 years since their visit. And that would probably explain a lot of what we found.

When we arrived on a Friday evening, we were the only car in the car park (never a good sign) and during the evening only 1 other table was occupied.

We could not fault the welcome that we received - the staff, including the chef were exceptionally friendly but the menus that we were handed were dirty and stained and the decor was looking a little dated.

Our starters were great - grilled sardines and a plate of 24 month matured ham and mozzarell and whilst the beef and veal on the main courses were OK, the sauces were disappointing, being ever so watery and the vegetable medley was something I would expect in a chain pub - simply lacked imagination.

The cheescake from the sweet trolley had such a thin layer of fruit on top that the cream served with it dominated flavour wise.

Sad to say, the food badly let down this establishment and the lack of investment over the past couple of years is unlikely to have helped what we ecperienced.
