We didn't book, but we're still welcomed and shown to a table. Didn't think they were amazingly busy, but did take them a while to take orders. Maybe writing stuff down instead of memorizing it would be better. Still all the food was tasty, very easy to recommend this place.

Visited here 18/06/18 for a family meal to celebrate the end of exams and were not disappointed, very friendly staff, excellent beer, I highly recommend Titanic breweries plum porter, it's a must! The food was lovely, everything cooked to perfection, in a very clean refurbished pub, what's not to like? Very good value for money.

Had a 10oz Rump Steal for £13 (would be £20 where I live!) Cooked to my liking, well seasoned - very tasty!
Mrs N had the mushroom burger (from the extensive vegetarian menu for £10. Basically a field mushroom in a brioche bun. Lots of garlic! Both meals served withe generous helpings of huge triple cooked chips and well dressed salads. Excellent.

If you're travelling along the Trent and Mersey canal, it's well worth stopping at this pub/restaurant. There are excellent moorings right next to the pub (also a very handy local shop the other side of the canal bridge).

The beer is great and not over priced. If you're not doing much in the afternoon, try the Thornbridge Jaipur - a remarkable beer but nearly 6% alcohol!

We had a selection of sandwiches and they were fresh and well filled.

Dogs are always welcome.

Whilst the reviews are very mixed which in the last had discouraged us from paying The Plume and Feathers a visit, we had the delightful surprise of quite superb food and great real ale (a perfect combination in our book!).

The Moules Frite, served with a hunk of gorgeously fresh bread, was so good that my wife picked up her bowl to drink the white wine, garlic, cream and shallot liquor that remained (how awful!).

The brisket and ale pie was, quite simply, the best pie that I have tasted and, sadly, the evidence is there that I've had a few! Tender, flakes beef in a rich gravy, fully encased in a wonderful butter pastry. Superb!

The only irritation is that the signage on the outside of the pub shows a big paw indicating that is dog friendly. When we walked into the long (with no obvious dog-barring signs), we were very curtly told 'No dogs are allowed in here!'. Surly to say the least! They are allowed in the bar area but come, please do not lead customers astray and the berate them!
