Nice place for snorkeling although there were too many people on the island simultaneously. Saw a lot if coral reef fish as well as a couple of reef sharks which was exciting!

Fantastic fish - gets crowded so come early! 10minutes from the mainland. Great mix of locals and tourists!

We took a boat to pigeon island, snorkeling gear was provided. Although still rather crowded (apparently weekends tend to get even busier) we could easily get some space to snorkel and see some really nice fish. The coral unfortunately is nit that spectacular. You do have to take for granted that in the island there is not much place to hide or get some private area

Very nice snorkeling. Wonderful coral gardens with a lot of colored fishes. Possibilities to see Blacktip sharks, turtles and others bigger fishes. Amazing!

We visited this so called magical place and was shocked to see the total neglect of the Nature of which these locals make money. The Island it self is located short distance away from Nilaveli Town, which is renowned for its pristine beaches. This activity is totally mismanaged and boat service is run by a local Co-op Society . This place is totally overcrowded and to my amaze some local people get into these boats in their Traditional Clothes and totally unaware about the activity ahead. They go like on a Pilgrimage. It is so heart breaking to see that their total disrespect to the Nature . In my mind this is a total waste of money and time for a Western Tourist as some Tour Operators charge exorbitant prices for a non satisfactory experience with the local mass. Government intervention is badly needed for this unregulated operation , I will rather take a walk in these Pristine Beaches and not waste my money .
