Active Hotel

My room had the strangest layout I've ever seen in a hotel. They warned me about the room beeing rather small during check-in, but I was still surprised. It was kind of early-years cruise-liner meets hostel, and the cramped bunk-bed (wich amazingly was only one bed - go figure) with it's hard and springy mattress didn't do any favors for my sleep. A hard sofa-bed was placed half-way underneath the bunk-bed and with a drawer-bed underneath - that's three in total on, let's say, 8m2? I strongly suggest that they invest in a modern family-type bunk-beds in these rooms. Then at least it's possible for an adult to turn around in the bed and not constantly banging knees and elbows into the bed-sides.

Furthermore, the hotel is located a bit outside the city-centre, and it has a shipyard as it's closest neighboor. On a sunny day, you will find that the hotel's gym is blasting poor dance-muzak out the open windows until closing time.

The positive things include free-wifi (but I feel that's mandatory these days), good breakfast, free access to a huge gym, a small waterworld and at least a clean room.

Kudos to the super-friendly staff! They provide friendliness well over average.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's not a cabin, and with a sea-view (the opposite side to the fitness-centre...

Small, but clean rooms. Good value compared to the rest of Tønsberg. It is placed about 10 min walk away from the pier at Tønsberg. At 55 NOK, breakfast is cheap and actually quite nice with a good selection of bread and fruit along with the normal scrambled eggs and bacon.

We chose this hotel for access to the sports facilities which were good, although had limited opening hours at the time. The staff were very friendly, and welcoming, felt like a home from home. Breakfast was also very nice, with a good variety on offer at a reasonable price. The hotel is also clean with the ensuite bathrooms.
It is a little off the beaten track for the town of Tonsberg, but it is easy enough to get to town by foot over a pedestrian bridge a short walk away which saves driving back and fourth through the toll bridge and trying to find parking in town. The main let down for us was the extremely saggy bed, but as other reviewers have said they thought the beds were comfortable, perhaps it varies by room!

This hotel is a good budget hotel worth trying. Nice reception area, friendly staff, good parking space, nice breakfast, and simple, but quite fine rooms. We had booked a double and a single room through booking.com, but upon arrival they had only reserved two single rooms for us. Fortunately, we were only two people, because they had no free double rooms left at the time. In spite of this, we were satisfied with the stay. Rooms are small but functional, nice bed, a small chair and table, space for storing clothes, tv, phone. The bathroom was small, but functional too. We didn't get to try the next-door gym, pool etc, but it looked good. The price was great for a stay close to Tønsberg, and I would definitely stay there again (but, I think I would confirm the reservation in beforehand).
