We were taken by a guide to this extinct volcano and, after visiting five islands, and many wonderful sights, I would definitely rate this stop as a highlight! We were told that there are only a few places in the world that have extinct volcanos like this one, where you can descend down into them and that this one is the only one open to the public. We entered a tunnel and then went through doors that opened out into the chamber of the volcano. It was amazing.....so huge inside! Visitors can walk down about 100 meters to a pool of water at the very bottom. We walked a good way down but let the total descent to our grandchildren and grown children who were with us. Our 9 year old grandson proclaimed....Thank you for talking us here...he was so excited. It is an amazing place and you should not miss it if you are on the island. We went in the afternoon and I read that they are open only May to September from 3 to 5 but I don't know if that is current information.
