We went to La Purtascia twice while we were in Cocquio in August. The first time we were a larger group and chose the 20€ "Surprise Menu" which is three courses (antipasti, primo piatto, desert, coffee and water). Even though the deal is that the chef decides what to give you, they were absolutely fine with us saying that one of us was a vegetarian and that we don't like horse meat. We got a wonderful variety of first dishes, followed by a delicious pasta course and a selection of deserts. The house wine was reasonably priced and very nice. On our second visit we were only three and we went a la carte. Again we were given a selection of starters, the two men shared a huge fiorentina rib steak, (which they were shown before it was cooked!) and a desert. We were welcomed, helped and treated with great friendliness during both the visits.
