I stayed in lot of different hotels in different places in the world, I got to know about this please through one of my good friend and saw some nice pictures posted on face book and I have decided to go there with my family..
The place is magical – I Can say this is the most relaxing, peaceful atmosphere with the highest energy place I have ever been in my life, Most of the food what they serve is own organic vegetables with delicious home-made bread rolls and all other details, which made me feel I am having my best weekend ever and The staff really go above and beyond their level to served make our stay very comfortable. Special thanks to Sameera, Amila, daya , Cheff Wasantha, Sahith, Palitha, Jekanthan and Balan. They looked after as very well. And hoping to see you again.

I am happy that I've found this place, and will definitely visit again, so would absolutely recommend it for everyone, who wants to have a vacation and relaxation at the exactly right place for it. It is also perfect for romantic couples, and who is just fed up with ugly, busy and noisy touristic places and hotels, no matter how many stars they have. Governs Mansion is just the right place to enjoy your vacation with your love ones.

Room Tip: I would suggest staying in Quin Suite

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife.

Pros
- Stunning property with style and elegance. Amazing back garden with beautiful flowers that was immaculately maintained.
- Wonderful views around the property of the surrounding plantations.
- Spacious room with modern amenities.
- Bathroom was modernised and clean.
- Friendly and attentive staff that made us feel at home and pampered.
- Helpful staff despite special requests eg packed lunches.

Cons
- Location is isolated amongst tea plantations and the road leading to it is narrow. But one may consider this a necessary evil for the amazing surroundings.
- Food was good but not spectacular.
- Very early morning call if going to Horton's Plain from this location.

Overall
Definitely worth a stay for the experience and relaxation.

Pleasure to read a candid, honest review we are accustomed to receiving from our valued guests. We thank you for your kind remarks about the property, our beautiful gardens and the quality of staff.

We do have an award winning Executive Chef and his team who do turn out spectacular dishes. Unfortunately due to your itinerary visiting so many places of interest and executing so many activities during your short stay, you have not had the benefit of time to enjoy cuisine from our extensive menu. We aim to offer you the best and hope you would come for a return visit to the Governor’s Mansion.

My partner and I stayed at the Governors Mansion for 4 nights and we fell in love with the place as soon as we arrived!
The building itself is gorgeous, but the grounds and views surrounding it are spectacular! The garden is so colourful; it reminded us of some gardens we had been to back in England, but with better views surrounding it! Every direction you look there are beautiful hills and tea plantations. You can even see Adam’s peak! The drive up here was also pretty amazing – we had to keep asking our driver to stop so we could take pictures!
The service at this place was fantastic. The staff could not do enough to for us, they were always happy to help. We made use of the snooker table in the evenings (we had no idea how to play but the staff were more than happy to help us set it up) and the tennis courts during the day (again, more spectacular views from the tennis courts).
The food was also really good. With one of us a vegetarian, we still found plenty of choice for the duration of our stay. We also tried the afternoon tea out in the garden, which was really lovely.

Highly recommended!

It was a privilege and we thank you for giving us the opportunity to show our “own brand of hospitality”. It is so encouraging to note that all our efforts to bring back the Mansion to its past glory and offer you our valued guests the experience of enjoying the Mansion replicating the original past is well appreciated. This is so special and rewarding to us.

We are here to serve you with a smile. Our staff are happy to offer you everything you desire to make your experience a truly memorable one.

Our team of gardeners take pride in offering our guests the benefit of organic vegetable grown in our own gardens during your stay at the GM.

Look forward to you returning to the GM in the future.

As you drive up from Hatton and Dickoya along the broken down path, you wonder what you have let yourselves in for as. Hatton is nothing but a provincial town with few leftovers from the colonial era.

However, as you take the last bend after the abandoned tea factory, the view of the Governors Mansion hits you and from that moment onwards you could be in tea country heaven. The mansion and its landscaped gardens have been maintained immaculately, the drawing room, dining room and games rooms have an ambience of luxury, space and great views. You could not find a better spot to curl up and read your book or sip your tea or wine.

The rooms have awesome views of the tea gardens dancing in the mist, Adams Peak and little hamlets in the distance. The walks which take you closer to these views are even better and ensure that you build up the appetite for the 3 course meals which the chefs throw up. Whether western or srilankan food, the chefs know their job. The evening titbits that are thrown in spoil you.

Though the price may seem steep, given that all of the above is included, provides very good value!

Thank you for your review. We whole-heartedly agree that Hatton is a provincial town. It was and is still very much a town that has retained most of the colonial influence, discipline and way of life. We are blessed with so many places of importance, heritage sites and so much to do for the discerning traveler.

We have had it said so much that “Governor’s Mansion is a rare Gem hidden in the tea valley”. We do our utmost to maintain and attempt to keep it in pristine condition for you our valued guests to experience and enjoy.

The design of the Mansion lends naturally to offer breath taking views out of all aspects be it in the spacious suites or many living areas.

Our chefs do us, and Sri Lanka proud with their infusions, creations that are so lovely to look at and delicious to taste.

We take pride in offering a “truly all inclusive services”.

Look forward to you returning to Governor’s Hotels in the future.

We were greeted by the owners of the residence, frank and joy, who were very friendly hosts and made us feel right at home over a cup of tea. We stayed in the queen suite which was old school with amazing views over the plantation and had a proper 4 poster bed. We were there for only one night and had the whole house to ourselves - feeing like royalty! What we didn't know was EVERYTHING is included in the price. All food, drinks and activities - this should be publicised more as we had no idea. Our glasses were always full. Played tennis in a court overlooking the valley. The staff were amazing and

Only one tiny tiny negative - bathrooms could be modernised a touch.

Would recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Thank you for your review. We too were happy to have the owners of the Mansion present when you arrived for your experience at the Governor’s Mansion. We appreciate all reviews through which we can be responsive to our guests’ views, needs and wishes however small they may be.

We try our utmost to maintain the Mansion in its past glory. We will actively look at ways of improving the image of the bathroom without changing the period feeling of a two hundred year old mansion.

We have requested and have managed to change the details to show what we offer is all-inclusive services. This has bee done for the benefit of future prospective enquirers.
